Isaac, their are so many reasons why the speakers wont sound. since its showing sound device not detected, it is possible that the for your audio device is not installed. if you use a windows7 operating system, on the start search type device manager when it comes out , click on it. go down to audio rightclick and select update drivers. if searches and didnt find it, then insert the driver disc your system came with. this should do it.
another reason why the speakers wont sound is if their is a hardware faliure. in this case all you have to do is see a technician or a computer engineer.
Follow these steps:
Go to the Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Sound > Manage Audio Devicesunder the Playback tab, select "Speakers" or any playback device listed. double click the device or click Properties. Go to Levels tab. Under the "Speakers" and "PC Speaker" area, adjust the volume level to its maximum. Then apply changes. If the above instructions wont work, try this out: Check if your speaker is detected when you plug it in.
If it isn't detected then either your sound drive has a problem/missing or maybe somethings wrong with your computer's headphone/speaker jack.
If detected, set it as your default device.

May be the problem is with your computer settings or perhaps an outdated or
faulty driver, and not with the speakers. Checking to see if any
settings or drivers can fix the problem is a good idea before
attempting to open the laptop or giving in and buying external speakers.Try following steps:
1: Test the audio in more than one program. If audio works in some
programs but not others, the "mute" setting might be on in one or more
programs and should be unmuted.
2: Turn up the volume on the external volume control. It may be on the side
or on the front of your laptop, or even on the keyboard (some models
have a touch-sensitive strip at the top of the keyboard that you might
not have realized controls the volume). Also look for any "mute"
shortcut keys you might have accidentally pressed (the symbol looks
like a speaker with a diagonal line through it) and try pressing it
again to see if sound is restored.
3: Go to your volume controls ("Control Panel," "Hardware and Sound,"
"Audio Devices," "Sound" and "Adjust System Volume"), and under "Main
Volume," make sure the slider is slid up and that the volume is not set
to "mute.
4: Plug a pair of headphones into the headphone jack on the laptop and see
if you can hear sound that way. If you hear noise in headphones or
external speakers but not the built-in speakers, either your drivers or
the speakers are the problem. Try uninstalling the drivers for your
speakers in "Device Manager" and reinstalling them by visiting your
laptop maker's website and downloading any updated drivers you need.
5: Open "Device Manager" by going to "Start," "Control Panel" "System" and
"Maintenance." Open "Sound "Video, and Game Controllers," and see if a
sound card is detected. If there is but there is a yellow question mark
next to it, right click it, and go to "Properties," "General" and
"Device Status" to see how to fix any problems. You may need to update
or install new drivers from your computer maker's website. If there is
no yellow question mark, uninstall and reinstall the drivers to see if
this fixes the problem.
6: Reinstall your audio device drivers from your laptop brand's website if
a sound card is not detected. It is possible some recent changes
removed the drivers and made your speakers undetectable, so
reinstalling the drivers should fix the problem.
check if the speaker is mute or in very low volume. check if correct device is selected for sound. check if sound card is detected in device manager - if ahve driver problem, uninstall and reinstall sound driver
Whats happened is that your "Audio Drivers" have been removed. Your audio device is inside your PC /laptop, probably on a bit of your computer called the motherboard, but in order for your computer to recognise and talk to your audio device it needs a bit of software called a driver. We need to find out what type of PC / Laptop you have, make another post on here with as much info on you PC/laptop as you can find, and state that you are looking for the audio drivers, myself or one of the other experts will then find the right drivers for you and tell you how to install them
check if the sound device is selected on the sound and audio devices located in control panel if you found no audio device then i think you may have to install the driver but first check if its properly detected on your system
