my i touch says it is disabled

  • Anonymous Sep 25, 2008

All these instructions assume iTunes recognizes the iTouch. I get a message saying "iTunes could not connect to the iPod "name" because it is locked with a passcode. You must enter your passcode on the iPod before it can be used with iTunes."

No amount of holding the button while plugging in the USB port will make the iTunes recognize the iPod, ergo can't restore.

    Any other ideas?

    Thx

then perform restore

Restore

  • Note: Because Restore erases all of the songs and files on iPod, make sure to back up any files you've saved on the iPod disk. All of your songs, videos, podcasts, audiobooks, and games can be loaded back to your iPod provided that you have them stored in your iTunes Library.

How to restore your iPod:
For Windows:
  • 1. Make sure you've reinstalled the latest version of iTunes.
  • 2. Open iTunes, and then connect your iPod to your computer.
  • 3. After a few moments, it will appear in the source list in iTunes.
  • 4. Select your iPod in the source list and you will see information about it appear in the Summary tab of the main iTunes windows.
  • 5. Click the Restore button. You will be prompted with one or more restore options that may prompt iTunes to automatically download of the latest iPod Software. The 4 possible restore options are:
    • Restore Option 1: Restore - Restores with same iPod Software version already on iPod.
    • Restore Option 2: Use Same Version - Restores with same iPod Software version already on iPod even though a newer version is available.
    • Restore Option 3: Use Newest Version - Restores with the latest iPod Software on your computer.
    • Restore Option 4: Restore and Update - Restores with the latest iPod Software on your computer.
  • 6. A progress bar will appear on the computer screen indicating that the first stage of the restore process has started. When this stage is completed, iTunes will instruct you to leave iPod connected to your computer to complete restore.
  • 7. During the stage 2 of the restore process, the iPod will show an Apple logo as well as a progress bar at the bottom of the display. It is critical that the iPod remains connected to the computer or iPod Power adapter during this stage. Note: The progress bar may be difficult to see since the backlight on the iPod display may be off.
  • 8. After stage 2 of the restore process is complete and the iPod is connected to the computer, the iTunes Setup Assistant window will appear asking you to name your iPod and choose your syncing preferences similar to when you connected your iPod for the first time.

Ipod is disabled, how do i restart it ?

The iPod Touch is a type of iPod that features a touch screen and can function as both a portable media player and as a pocket computer.

It is possible to password protect your iPod Touch so that you will have to enter a password every time you want to unlock the iPod Touch screen.

If you repeatedly enter the incorrect passcode, your iPod Touch will become disabled.
To unlock a disabled iPod Touch, you need to sync your iPod Touch device with iTunes on your computer.

Attach the iPod Touch data cable to the bottom of your iPod Touch device and attach the other end of the data cable to an available USB port on your computer.

Open iTunes on your computer and then select your iPod Touch device from the list of available devices on the left side of the iTouch window.

Click the "Restore" button.

If you have previously backed up your iPod Touch, you can choose to restore the device to the last back up or any saved backup.

If you have never backed up your iPod Touch, this process will restore your iPod Touch's factory settings.

Wait while iTunes syncs with your iPod Touch and restores the device.

iTunes will prompt you when this process is complete.

or
A hard reset restores your iPod Touch to its original factory settings.
This is useful when your iPod Touch is disabled and won't turn on or off, but all your data is erased.

Luckily, you can restore your data with iTunes after you've performed the reset.
Once you've performed the reset, your iPod is wiped clean and iTunes prompts you to restore the settings from your last sync.

Plug the iPod into your computer and wait at least 10 minutes.
This allows the battery to recharge in case it has drained.

This could fix your disabled iPod, if the problem was caused by a dead battery.
Click "OK" if your computer opens a "Connect to iTunes" alert box.

Depending on your version of iTunes, the message may indicate the iPod is in "recovery mode" and you need to restore the device.

ITunes opens and resets your iPod for you.
Unplug the iPod from your computer if you don't see the "Connect to iTunes" alert box.

Make sure the iPod is charged before you attempt the hard reset.
Press and hold both the On/Off/Wake button and the Home button on your iPod.

Keep the buttons pressed.
Wait for the Apple logo to appear, it may take 10 seconds or longer.

When you see it, release the On/Off/Wake button but keep the Home button pressed.
Release the Home button when you see a picture of a USB cable with an arrow pointing to the iTunes logo.

Plug your iPod back into the computer.
The iTunes "recovery mode" message will appear.

Click "OK" to complete the reset.

Everytime I try to sync my itouch to download music on itunes it keeps popping up the ipod"Ariel's Ipod" cannot be synced. An unkown error occurred(13019).

Make sure that your 'C:' drive has enough "free" disk-space (64GB if you have a 64GB iPod Touch) to make a backup.

If you do, then use iTunes to "reset" the iPod to its "factory" settings, and then it will sync your iTunes Library to the iPod.

I disabled my itouch because i put the password in wrong

If you enter the password too many times it becomes disabled for security reasons. There is not a master code to unlock it. You will need to restore the ipod and reload from your library or from your back up.

Once at the computer you will need itunes open and your ipod connected

1) Make sure you have the latest vertion of itunes downloading
you can check this by going to { HELP>CHECK FOR UPDATES}

2) On the ipod hold the sleep wake button at the top and the home button on the bottom at the same time until you see the apple logo

3) Once you see the apple logo - release the sleep/wake button but remain holding the home button

4) You will see an error message from your computer
f53db07.jpg

5) click ok - Then the restore button - the restore will take about 15- 20 minutes

Note: if you have previously backed up the ipod it will prompt you to restore from back up in the restore process

6) re - sync2_bing.gif your content after the restore is complete

7) after sync disconnect and use

I hoped this helped-

** NOTE: If you get an error while restoring the ipod try and restore from another computer ***

I entered the wrong code too many times on my itouch

You can put the iPod into recovery mode, and then restore the iPod.

To do this:
1) Turn the iPod off.
2) Hold down the Home button on the iPod while connecting it to the computer it was last synced with.
3) Release the Home button when the iTunes image appears on the iPod's screen.
4) Wait for iTunes to recognize the iPod and then follow the onscreen instructions to restore the iPod.
