I've used paslode for years and whenever there was a "hiss" of air and no fire- it was o-rings- When were the o-rings changed last? And how do you know they are in 'good shape'? You can't tell by just looking at them. If that isn't the problem then I can't help. Just as an aside- do you oil the gun (down the air intake nipple) every time you use it? Lack of oil will wear out o-rings fast. Sorry if this isn't overly helpfull but most gun problems are o-ring or seal related unless you've worn out or damaged a mechanical part.
This has nothing to do with oiling the tool. It was most likely caused by a worn drive pin that you should slightly sharpen, (Squared off to hit the nail head flat) or replace all together.
Remove all air lines from the tool. Find a Drift Pin that is similar in size (but smaller) than the tool's drive pin. With the tool upside down on a slightly padded workbench and the business end of the tool facing UP, I would use a mallet and drift pin to drive the DRIVE PIN, (not the nail) back into the reset position. (Back into the air cylinder) The nail will not follow the drive pin & when done, the nail should fall out, or be removable with pliers.
Try oiling the tool first. Remove the nails, squirt a decent amount of air tool oil in the stem where the air hose coupler connects, and fire the tool a dozen times or so. Then put in the nails and test. If it still hangs up then it will need the o-rings replaced.
Make sure that you don't have a jammed brad in the nailing head. Are you using air-tool-oil fed through the air coupler on a regular basis? Hope this helps!
Your o-rings are wore out. Paslode makes(made) a Tool Repair Kit, PN219235 and Trigger Valve Kit, PN219224 for your gun. Always use all of the o-rings in the kit and liberally lubricate them before installing them using grease in the kit or nail gun oil. If the kits are no longer available you'll have to get a breakdown of the gun, (www.paslode.com/uploadedFiles/PowerMaster_Plus_Parts_Diagram_Schematics.pdf) and order all of the o-rings. Be very carefull to put everythng back together properly, you are working with a gun.
The hissing indicates your O-rings are worn out and need to be replaced. This is not covered by warrenty and is common for all nail guns. Lots of kits are available on Ebay or your local Hitachi service center should stock them.
take the head bolts out of the top of the gun. make sure you pay attention to how everything comes out so you can put it back together.
shake the gun upside down so that the piston comes out. wipe everything down with any petroleum based cleaning solvent to remove all the gunk and reassemble.
pour about 10 dropsof oil down the air input, let it sit there about 5 mins and hook up the air and it should work
the problem is in the safey area of the gun, it could be the safety is only partially pushing in (what is sounds like) also, the track may be dirty and need lubed. Spray WD40 on the track and up the nose.
Also, check the thumbscrew on the back of the track by the handle and make sure the track is pushed all the way forward and tightened up
