Our sink and garbage disposal was clogged up. We got the sink unclogged, but the dishwasher had dirty water in the bottom and won't drain.

Your dishwasher drains into the garbage disposal. It you tried to use a plunger to clear your clogged sink or run the disposal with to much junk in it you may have force debris into the dishwasher drain hose. With both the dishwasher and garbage disposal disconnect from power disconnect the dishwasher drain hose from the garbage disposal. This is usually about a one inch black hose. Clear out any debris in the hose and inlet nipple on the garbage disposal. If debris is compacted far down the hose it will need to be disconnected from the dishwasher end and remove to clear the blockage.

Good luck!

Filter needs cleaning. How do I get at the filter?

Dishwasher filters are important to catch food particles and other debris. The dishwasher cleans small portions of food from the dishes, cooking pans and silverware. These particles must go somewhere. The drainage system on the washer may clog if filters are not present. Most Maytag dishwasher models have two types of filters, "Coarse" and "Fine." You should clean the "Coarse" filter after two or three wash loads. The "Fine" filter can wait for a cleaning for about 300 loads or three months.
jQuery('.intro .thumbnail').each(function(i,e){ jQuery(e).find('img').one('error',function(){ jQuery(e).remove(); }); }); Difficulty: Easy Instructions Things You'll Need:

  • Sink sponge
  1. Empty the dishwasher. Remove all dishes including pots, pans and silverware.
  2. Pull the bottom rack out as far as possible. The filters are under the basket on the Maytag dishwashers. It may be convenient to lift the rack out. Typically, if you lift, the wheels leave the track.
  3. Remove the "Coarse" filter. This filter is a small, round knob in the middle of the "Fine" filter. A round knob is around the "Coarse" filter. Hold on to the handle and lift straight up.
  4. Knock the contents of the "Coarse" filter into the garbage can. Run the faucet to remove smaller particles. Wipe the dishwasher filter with the sink sponge if debris is stuck-on. Push back into the filter holder when complete.
  5. Take out the "Fine" filter. Turn the round knob that is around the "Coarse" filter counter-clockwise. Once the knob is loose, pull up. The "Fine" filter will come out of the dishwasher.
  6. Rinse the "Fine" filter with the hot water faucet. Scrub with the sink sponge to remove any stuck-on fragments. Replace the filter into the dishwasher. Push down and turn the knob clockwise to tighten.

We have a Bosch SHU3307UC dishwasher. Two friends swear by theirs, saying they put everything in dirty and the load always comes out clean. That does not at all work for us. My wife has to just about wash...

Put dirty stuff in will eventually keep a tech like me very busy. We love to come and charge you alot for cleaning your dishwasher. Remember the Maytag commercials where they put a cake in it? Still got the dishes clean but before long it will cost you big time. Just run everything under the tap. Pot and pans should be lightly washed also. Watch how you place the dishes. Most dishwashers spray up from the bottom. Block it, and the spray will not reach the top.

Always smells after clean load empty. Water in the reservoir looks dirty. Now see some food deposits on one side of the door base inside machine.

There are many probable causes of failure .

A dishwasher's water inlet valve is its most common part to fail. When your dishes are not being fully cleaned, quite often a faulty water inlet valve is to blame. Test your dishwasher's water inlet valve, and if it is no longer functioning as it should, you will have to replace it.

Water temperature is a key element in achieving clean dishes. A dishwasher's heating element is not designed to heat the water that enters it. Rather, the heating element is designed to maintain the heat of the water that enters the dishwasher. Its a good idea to run the hot water in your sink for a couple of minutes before you run the dishwasher. Just to make sure the water is nice and hot before it enters the dishwasher. If the water is unable to stay hot, it can adversely affect your dishwasher's cleaning ability.

There is a filter in your dishwasher. Its function is to keep large particles of food and foreign objects away from the pump. Many of the newly-manufactured dishwashers have self-cleaning filters, and routine cleaning isn't a concern. However, some other dishwashers need to have the filter removed and cleaned regularly. If the filter or grate is clogged or blocked with debris, it may interfere with the normal functioning of your dishwasher

A helpful rating and a testimonial would be greatly appreciated if you are satisfied with my solution...

Maytag dishwasher not draining fully

Try cleaning out the air gap.  The air gap is not part of the machine, and is located on your sink. If this becomes clogged, it may cause the machine to not drain properly.  Also, I know you said you checked the drain hose and cleaned as far as the filter and chopper blade, but have you checked the lower filter?  There is a filter located underneath the machine that should periodically be cleaned.  To check this, you need to access the machine from underneath by removing the bottom vanity cover. Hope that one of these helps!

Dishwasher runs but does not get dishes clean

1.) Confirm that the holes of the spray arms are not blocked with debris.
2.) Run a short cycle with an empty dishwasher and no dishwasher soap. Run the dishwasher until you hear it finish filling with water and begins the wash cycle. Add up to two cups of white vinegar to the water and allow to wash and drain. Feel free to do the same when the dishwasher fills again.
3.) Only use a brand name powder detergent (e.g. Electrosol or Cascade) in any dishwasher. Do not use a gel or tablet in any dishwasher. Do not fill the dispenser fully.
Test your dishwasher with a standard load of dirty dishes.
If problems continue, confirm that the heating element is working properly. The heating element is vital to getting clean dishes with modern dishwashers and DW detergent.
Please report back what you find.

Wow, I can see your question is very old. Do you still own your machine and if so have you resolved your problem with it? I would contact Cuisinart Warranty at 1-800-726-0190 and ask them what they can do for you. There is a limited three year warranty on the unit from the day you purchased it.
