SOURCE: Clothing stuck on agitator with top loading washing machine

Dear Whitworth,

please rate this solution if it meets ur needs, else choose fixya...

The agitator's movement back and forth is important for the cleaning of your laundry. If it doesn't function properly, your clothes won't be as clean as possible. If your agitator does not move, moves only in one direction or its movement is very weak, you will probably need to remove the agitator. Furthermore, in order to inspect the tub for leaks, the clutch assembly, the splines, or to remove the spin drum, you will have to remove the agitator.

The agitator is fastened to the agitator shaft and its movement is driven either by splines or a simple clutch assembly. The splines are usually plastic or rubber nubs on a cylinder that fits over the agitator shaft. If the nubs wear down, the shaft will not turn properly or it will turn weakly. If the agitator is moving in only one direction, the likely cause is the clutch assembly. The clutch has dogs that depress and pop up with each turn. If those dogs are worn, they will not engage properly and the agitator will turn only in one direction.
Various makes and models differ in how the agitator is removed. In some newer models, the agitator just lifts straight up and out. However, in most models you will have to do some combination of the following steps. First remove the fabric softener dispenser, if any. It should either lift or screw off. Next remove the cap. It may lift off, screw off or failing that, it may need to be pried off.
Beneath the cap some agitators are secured in place by a bolt. Use a socket wrench with an extension to remove that bolt. Some Maytags may have a screw near to the bottom of the agitator post that must be removed. Now try to lift the agitator straight up, possibly with a little back and forth rocking motion. Use caution when pulling, the agitator may come loose suddenly and hit you in the face or send you flying backward.
If the agitator is particularly stubborn, you can loop some rope under one side of the agitator at the bottom and then up over a broom handle. Now loop it again under the other side of the agitator and back up to the broom. Brace one end of the broom handle against the top of the washer and lift up on the other end. Double check that you have removed anything that may be securing the agitator in place. Do not use too much force or you may damage the washer cabinet, agitator or injure yourself.

SOURCE: Top loading maytag washer leaking water during wash cycle

Hi, There are two spring clips located in the gap between the top and front panel. They are the edges.
If the pump and hoses aare ok, fill the washer with water and look up toward the center of the tub abd transmission area. It migth have a seal going bad.

I hope this helps.

Hi there
That fault is the pump blocked error (no change in water level).
i have a quick and easy way to solve this problem.

first turn the machine off then tilt the machine back and lean it on something(a chair or wall), look underneath, in the top right hand corner of the plastic outer boul you will see a small pump motor it has a fan on it spin this fan and if it is hard to turn that means there is somthing stuck in the drain pump keep turning the fan and try to free whatever is stuck in the pump, then try the machine on spin again all goin well the object in the pump should come out with the drain water(doing this will not harm the machine) if the object is still stuck you will need to get the water out of the machine (bailing or siphioning will work) and tilt the machine back again and take the wires off the pump and there should be a white tab on the boul holding the pump on pull this tab and twist the pump anticlockwise about a quarter turn(you will need a few towels or a boul or bucket to catch the water) and it should come off exposing the blockage.
Hope this solves your Problem.

LG front load washer shakes on spin cycle even though it is level how can I fix it so it doesn't travel around the laundry room?

Either replace the friction dampers or relube with Nulon 90 or similar. The pins that hold the dampers should be replaced after being removed. The top & bottom halves of dampers seperate, you only need remove 1 pin (top or bottom) if relubing.
Do not apply any lubricant to the pins!!!

Leaves white clothes gray

Many of the machines are having a similar issue I am trying to find a resolution to fixing this, there are two issues. First Whirlpool has just recently identified a problem with premature bleach dispensing. Another dispensing problem I had is that fabric softener had to be diluted otherwise it would not wash out of the dispenser. And finally, the fabric softener dispenser would still hold a small amount of water after the wash cycle completed.Removing the top of some washers I have found that there is often a lot of stainless steel polish residue around the rim of the machine - which should have been cleaned away before the machine was shipped from Whirlpool. The gray, oily residue was not visible without removing the top of the washer. Knowing now what has caused the dark gray streaks on many peoples laundry.

Calypso washer

You likely have clothing stuck under the wash plate. I received "out of balance" & "suds lock" errors & tried resolving the issue with extended spin and extra rinse cycles with the same results you have describe "not going below 7 min left in cycle". Thinking I had a clogged drainage hose, I removed the back panel after hose disconnection and "snaked" drainage hose - had problem here once before. Some lint here again but not enough to cause problem I reasoned, then I move to the basket area. Remove the plastic cover in the middle over the wash plate with a flat head screw driver by pressing in on indented tabs. Once removed, use a 10mm socket & ratchet to remove wash plate. I had three pieces of laundry underneath, 2 socks, & a microfiber runner's tank top. I concluded this to be the major problem caused by the small items entering in the gap in the rubber ring around the wash plate. This gap has increased over time by the ring's shrinkage. I am applying silicone to close this gap, but will also use a mesh laundry bag for smaller items in the future. Also recheck the leveling of the machine - mine was off considerably. Once I reassembled the wash plate & hose connections, the machine began working properly. No doubt, this design was not well thought through.
