These notifications start coming back again after some time and do not feel good. Though I never encourage piracy but here is how you can remove this problem:
1. Before doing anything serious try restoring your system. If the problem is occurring after the Windows Update then System Restore will surely help.
2. But if it does not then do try this, launch Windows Task Manager.
3.Locate the process "wgatray.exe" and end it.
4.Log in into the Safe Mode and delete the file WgaTray.exe from c:\Windows\System32
5.Also delete the WgaTray.exe from c:\Windows\System32\dllcache
6. Type regedit in Run to open Registry Editor, navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\Notify key.
7. Delete the folder WgaLogon and all of its contents.
8. Restart the PC normally.

TRY THIS.............

"You may be a victim

Welcome to FixYa!

If you're seeing notifications that the copy of Windows that is installed on your PC might not be genuine, or that you might be a victim of counterfeit software, it's likely that your copy of Windows was not properly activated or is otherwise not genuine. To fix this, click the notification and follow the steps to either repair Windows or-if you have inadvertently obtained counterfeit software-buy genuine Windows.

If you are using Windows XP, download and install the Windows Genuine Advantage Notification Application. It will scan your operating system and will remove the annoying message if it's a legitimate copy of windows.

Download here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/905474

Keep me posted.

May be victim of counterfeiting

The "Windows Genuine Advantage" extracts the 25-character product-key from your installed copy of Windows, and compares it to Microsoft's database of "non-genuine" product-keys.

In your case, it found a match, which implies that you are using a "non-genuine", e.g., "bootleg", version of Windows.

Click the "Get Genuine" link, and have your credit-card ready, to make an online purchase of a valid product-key.

Victim of software counterfeiting how to rectify it

Incase you are a victim of counterfeit product of Microsoft then :-
  1. Purchase a valid Windows XP cd-key online from Microsoft.
  2. If you can produce high-quality counterfeit media, along with a proof of purchase, you can get a free replacement key from Microsoft.
  3. Contact your reseller for redress.
  4. Purchase Windows XP from a local OEM reseller.
  5. Purchase Windows XP at a retail location.
Notice the word "Purchase" appears in three of those five options. There's almost no way to finagle a free cd-key out of this.
Counterfeit software can come from a number of sources. It's important to use a reputable reseller when purchasing software or PCs that come with software.
And, now the good part :-
Microsoft also offers several options to help victims of counterfeit software obtain a legal copy of Windows, including a complimentary offer for victims who were deceived into buying highy quality counterfeit copies
To help customers who unknowingly purchased a counterfeit version of Windows XP, Microsoft has created two genuine Windows offers for those who qualify:
  • Complimentary offer: Microsoft will make a complimentary copy of Windows XP available to customers who have been sold counterfeit Windows. Customers will be required to submit a proof of purchase, the counterfeit CD, and a counterfeit report with details of their purchase. Only high-quality counterfeit Windows will qualify for the complimentary offer.
  • Electronic License Key Offer: Microsoft will offer an alternative for customers who find out via the WGA validation process that they are not running genuine Windows, but do not qualify for, or choose not to take advantage of, the complimentary offer. These customers will be able to license a Windows Genuine Advantage Kit for Windows XP directly from Microsoft for a special on-line purchase price. The Windows Genuine Advantage Kit for Windows XP will include a new 25-character Product Key and a Windows Product Key Update tool that will allow customers to convert their counterfeit copy to genuine Windows XP electronically.

Don't do anything online. You're probably installed WGA (Windows Genuine Advantage).

Try to find REMOVE WGA on www.softpedia.com

That little hack tool should solve your problem.

Or simply reinstall your OS.
