The CD, CD-RW, DVD, DVD-RW, Blu-Ray and any other drive that uses a laser to read data from a CD. In general, most optical drive problems can be resolved by:
- Updating the optical drive firmware
- Updating the burning software
- Updating the DVD playback software
- Updating the computer's video driver in cases of video playback issues
- Updating the computer's audio driver in cases of audio playback issues
To download the Firmware of your machine
click here. i have selected the default 1525 but if you click on enter the service tag, it will give you your computer's firmware. or you can check it in device manager as well.
you can also try deleting the upper and lower filters. in regedit.
in vista. click on start /type
regedit in start search.
then continue the action and then click on the
+HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / + SYSTEM / +CURRENT CONTROLSET / +CONTROL /+ CLASS /+ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} and on the right side look for
upper filters or lower filters and delete them. and then restart the computer. it should fix this.
in case the issue is not resolved. you might need to get the optical drive replaced.
