I gave up and took the machine to Sear's to have them fix. They could not find the problem. The good news is that it had two more months on the warranty so got a new machine at no charge. Maybe next time I will look at purchase date and coverages. Thanks for all your input.

Bad diaphragm.or a need to adjust the high on carb.

I know it is hard to believe but this carb does not have a high carb adjustment, just an idle screw. I am not sure if we are talking about a diaghragm in the carb as there is no repair kits available just a new carb which I just installed. or is there is another diaghragm that I am missing. thanks for your input

ok... what kind of machine is it? and roughly what year is it? does this have a primer bulb on it?

  • Anonymous Sep 23, 2010

this is a craftsman 32cc/1.9cu. in. 2 cycle with a bulb purge or primer and approx 3 years old.

  • bigminfl Sep 24, 2010

ok, if there is a primer bulb, there is a diaphram., carefully take the screw out of side were bulb is, an inspect it very carefully. it can have the smallest hole., or possible dirt in it. this will make the machine not run proper. i would recomend cleaning the carb with some carb cleaner, then blow it out with high pressure. as for the diaphram, gently wipe it down with a paper towel. i usually take carb all apart, carefully removing gaskets, diaphrams, or what ever i can before i spray, or soak it. now the other side were the gas lines hook to the carb should have somewhat of a screen type gasket. i would remove this to before i spray it down. i no u said carb is new and all, but its really all accoarding to were you get it from. like i have bought carbs on ebay that claimed to be new, but had to do what i just told you, and after doing what i have just explained to you, they work fine.

Make sure the fuel jet is clean. Its easy to miss when cleaning the carb. Ive seen a lot of dirty fuel jets that once I clean them out run like new after.

Crafsman 25cc weedwacker won't stay running

You probably have a bad hose or a bad hose connection that is sucking mostly air instead of delivering full fuel to the carburetor!

hello sir, routing fuel line for craftsman, homelite, ryobi, hedge and line trimmers, fuel tank under engine, looking at machine from rear, shall fuel line on left with filter attached goes to bottom port of carb, fuel line from right side coming out of tank with inside tip attached goes to bottom port of primmer bulb, top line on primmer bulb goes to top port of carb, fuel tank under engine, fuel line routing, looking at machine from left side, left fuel line coming out of tank(drain back only) goes to right side small port of primmer bulb, left side larger fuel line from primmer bulb to top port of carb, fuel line coming out of tank (larger line) on the right side with filter attached goes to bottom port of carb, when replacing fuel line it is very important to use the same ID and OD line the homelite takes a special line that is black in color and a bigger size, the bigger line is ID .08-OD140 small line ID3/32 X 3/16.when the lines dissolve small pieces will get in the carb clogging small passages and screen,it is advisable that you clean out carb, and use a new filter.hope this helps, any comments welcome, thank you. if the filter has broken off of the line half way that is where you will run out of fuel, oo

I have a McCulloch MS1636NAV chain saw. The engine starts with the choke pulled out. When I push the choke in the saw dies. I've changed the spark plug, replaced the air filter. changed the gas, 40:1.

Its either sucking air in throgh a loose connection in the fuel line or the carb is stopped up. Take it apart very easy so you don't rip any gaskets, and clean evertthing with a can of compressed air blow all the tubes out real good. You may have to get a carb kit it that does not work.

But that sounds like what it is, running out of gas when you let more air to it.

your carb are gummed up. u need to pull the apart and clean ot float bowl and jets. try removing the air filter and shooting very small amounts of carb cleaner directly in air intake. then start bike. if dose not work after afew trys, need to pull carbs and clean out.

I have a craftmens 25 cc weedwacker thats about 3

it sounds like your carb is out of adjustment and you need to adjust it. Look at the carb on your weedwacker, there is an idle adjustment screw somewhere on it and using either phillips or strait screw head and then carefully turning it clockwise go 1/8 of a turn at a time until the engine idles smoothly.

Weedeater XT 85T wont run

Check to see if your feul line is cracked or it is drawing air . Check your clamps that hold the lines on . One other thing you can check is to see if any bolts are loose that hold the carb on . Best of luck Ed.

Weedeater starsts and ildes won't run or accelerate

Make sure your gas supply is fresh...not from last year...
Secondly, clean and service the air filter element... you may need to reoil it before installation...check your manual.
Disconnect the fuel line and drain it and what little is in the carb...push on the prime bulb if it's got one...
Then with a clean air filter and fresh gas... give it a start and after start, disengage the choke..
Let me know how you do..

Craftsman weedwacker keeps dying

If the weedwacker runs OK on 1/2 choke or even better on full choke then most likely the cause is the carb gaskets are stiff and can no longer pump the fuel. Of course make sure the fuel lines are are the right ports (return and supply). While you have the carb apart clean all of the passages with carb cleaner.
