I'm removing a Maytag microwave over stove model #mmv4205aab. Would appreciate guidance. The only attachments I can see are two bolts which connect the unit to the cabinet above. I cannot see what attachs the unit to the wall. When the two bolts are removed I don't understand how to proceed to unattach the unit from the wall. Andy

Typically there is a metal mounting plate screwed to the wall and when you take the screws out of the cabinet above it it will tilt forward toward you and then you have to lift it off of some metal tabs that are on the bottom of that mounting plate. Lift up and pull away from the wall and let the cord pull out of the hole in the bottom of the cabinet. Good luck. I usually do that by myself and hook one arm under it and lift it up, but probably better with two people.

SOURCE: MAYTAG mmv4205aab OVER THE RANGE MICROWAVE

It could easily be a bad line fuse and/or line filter. To access you will need to unplug the unit and remove the outside case. Inside the unit, where the A/C power cord comes in, there should be a small circuit card (part #237068) located somewhere with a fuse mounted on it. This is your input line filter board with line fuse. Replace the fuse, first and see if this fixes your problem. This is a 20amp appliance fuse that you can purchase at any hardware store. Make sure you place the cover back on the unit BEFORE you plug it in. It is not safe to have this area of the microwave exposed with power applied. High potentials in the 4,000 volt range are present! If the fuse does not correct your problem, the circuit card runs about $26.00. Good luck and hope this fixes your problem.

There should be a "mini-manual" (tech sheet) hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

It may be the fuse, or the magnetron thermostat (thermal cutout ./ TCO) or the oven cavity thermostat.

The first two can be accessed via the control panel opening, but if you need to check or replace the oven cavity thermostat, you will need to remove the oven form the wall.

Removing it from the wall is ideally a 2-person job and you should have your installation instructions handy. If not, you should be able to find it here.

Be sure to unplug the oven before you begin.

SOURCE: how to remove maytag microwave over the stove

There is a considerable amount of weight to lower. It is an easier removal with the range pulled out and moved to the side. If you choose to move the range, be sure to protect the floor. Unplug the microwave. The plug should be in the cabinet above the range. There are two screws in the cabinet above that screw down into the top and support the front. These are the only fasteners that hold the machine directly. An assistant would be nice to have to help with the weight. While supporting the microwave, remove the two screws and slowly lower the front of the microwave pulling the cord out of the cabinet above as you go. Once the cord is free, tilt the machine down in front until the back can be lifted up off the plate that is fastened to the wall.

In all likelihood the mangnetron has failed, or perhaps even the Power Supply. or a fault that is shutting the system down for safety reasons You need to have it serviced by a reputable service centre/man. Ensure you get a firm "Quote" before proceeding, and remember these days the cost of repair can equal or exceed the price of a new one.

When it's run empty, that will cause the magnetron to overheat.

If it gets hot enough, the magnetron's thermostat will open.

Normally it should cool down and reset, turning the oven back on.

If not, the thermostat may have failed hard, and would have to be replaced.

The fuse may be bad (also or instead).

There should be a "mini-manual" (tech sheet) hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components.

My modle # mmv4205aab lost all power, no display, no nothing. thank you

Hello- Unplug, open door, and remove screw holding display panel. Be careful, some wires may need to be unplugged. 20a fuse should be visible. If this fuse is bad- replace and address any power supply issues, such as age of wiring or circuit load-(other stuff plugged in) Hope this helps-ED

Remove a whirlpool over the range microwave oven

Jim here. In cabinet above microwave, locate 2 mounting bolts.
Place a box on the stove top to support the microwave once the mounting bolts are removed (you may wish to cover the box with a thick towel or small throw rug).
Procedure:
1. Unplug microwave.
2. Remove both mounting bolts from top of microwave (they secure it to the overhead cabinet).
3. With microwave front angled down onto box, pull some of power cord out of hole (to provide some moving space).
4. With microwave hand supported, remove box from stove top (a second set of hands would be helpful here).
5. HARD PART- detach top of microwave back from wall mounting plate by placing a hand under the bottom rear of the microwave and pushing up. (Wall mounting plate is screwed into the wall behind the microwave and provides both top and bottom support to the back of the microwave.)
6. Lower front of microwave until you can see about a 1-inch clearance between the top-rear of the microwave and the cabinet above it.
7. Firmly lift the microwave straight up and then bring forward. It should be free of the wall mounting plate.
