If your TV has a menu button, go into the menu and try setting the input of the TV to the jack that you connected your cable to. Sometimes the TV will not check all the inputs and just does the default one when you do the auto-tune search function to find the active channels. Also, check to see that your wall receptacle is actually hooked into your active cable TV line. You should have a splitter somewhere in the same line that your other TV is using. If not, that jack that you are hooking up your new TV to is probably not active.

SOURCE: turn off closed caption on input(component) on Sharp Aquos 42"

I have a Sharp Aquos 46" and go a Comcast HD receiver as well, and had the same problem turning off the Closed Captioning. I order to turn it off you need to go into the box user setting by (starting w/ the cable box and tv on) pressing the power button for the cable box then the menu button for the cable box. This will open up the user settings menu. Just toggle CLOSED CAPTION to DISABLED.

SOURCE: no sound on analog channels

Grab your sharp remote and press MENU, arrow over to SETUP, arrow down to RESET and press enter and follow that prompt to reset the unit. Once that is complete turn the tv off and unplug ONLY the tv for one minute then plug it back in. Then turn the tv on and see if you have channels, if you do, your audio should work on you analog stations, if you have no channels and all you see is a snowy picture do the following press MENU, arrow over to SETUP...arrow down to CH SETUP and press ENTER...you will then be at a screen that says AIR/CABLE, press ENTER, select CABLE or CABLE(STD) if that option is available to you. after then, arrow down to CH SEARCH, press ENTER, then you should be highlighted on ANALOG AND DIGITAL SEARCH...press ENTER and wait for 15-30 minutes ( or until you get a picture back) and make sure you DO NOT press any buttons or turn the tv off and you should be good. good luck 2 u

Why will my new tv not pick up any channels when using the auto channel search

It depends on if you have cable or are using an antenna. If you have cable, make sure you have the cable that runs in between them hooked up to the correct spots. If you're using an antenna, you might need to get a TV converter box. A couple of years ago, they stopped making regular TV channels and switched to only digital channels. Most older TVs don't work with digital channels, so you need a box that will convert the picture. You can get one at any place that sells TVs (walmart, amazon, etc)

How to run tv from sat box and not have to turn on the reicer all the time. When I do want surround use the digital audio off sat box. Yamaha RX V377

If your SAT Box has multiple outputs, hook the HDMI output to your receiver so you can get full surround on movies etc. Connect the HDMI out on your receiver to an HDMI input on the TV. Run a composite or S-video connection from the sat box to the TV for regular TV viewing/listening without the receiver & speakers. I don't think you can get full HD over either of these cables, but you may be able to use the composite connections if they are available on your sat box and TV.

Make sure you have selected "cable" as the source input to the tuner. If there is a selection for both digital and analog channels when doing a channel scan then select it.

My son bought this TV and had it hooked up to a cable connection with an HDMI cable and it worked fine. He gave the TV to me and I hooked it up to a basic cable connection with no cable box. It does not...

If your TV has an On-screen Menu you should be able to access your Tuner controls. Run your auto channel scan and you should pick up your "regular channels". You may be able to de-select the odd channels and show only the ones you want to use.

Looking for hd channel

To get an hd picture you have to use a digital input and this cannot be done by simply turning it to a channel. You need to hook up your HD receiver (box) to your tv using either an HDMI or a Component which will be a cable that looks similar to an rca but there are three of them and the colors are bed blue and green. If there is a red, blue and green on the back of the cable box and the tv hook them together with a component cable and then find the input on your tv that correlates to the compnent connections and then even after all of this you need to be tuned into a channel that is offered in high definition and if you have cable like I do the high definition channel will be a seperate channel from the regular one. Comcast in my area puts the HD's from channels 400-500. For example my espn HD is channel 403 but just regular espn non HD is on channel 27 in my area.

Would like to record from my tv to my magnavox dvd/vcr combo box

If I understand your request right, You do not have cable or satellite box.
You can not record from your TV. You use the TV as a monitor from the dvd/vcr combo box. What the box receives is what shows on the TV. So you will have to have a digital convertor hooked to the (antenna in) dvd/vcr combo box, (antenna out to the tv antenna in) Depending on the antenna you are using that is on the other end of your cable-in coax connection this will hook to your antenna in on the digital convertor box. If your cable is hooked up and operating correctly and directly to the tv that is digital ready you probabbly have a good picture. When the vhf/uhf signal was transmitted you could go from the dvd/vcr to the tv with no problem. But now that the signal is digital and the tv is set for digital the dvd/vcr will not pass a digital signal to the tv. Best suggestion, you have to get a digital dvd/vcr receiver. If you have more question please contact me.

How do i hook up my 16-454 to my verizon fios cable?

I am not sure what a FIOS use, but I was able to split my cable connection and was connect my regular TV AND portable tv with the cable.

IN YOUR CASE:
Look at your fios set up box, behind the box, there should be something that would say "TO TV" or "VIDEO OUT" or "TO TV/VCR"

Usually, the cable coming out from there goes to your regular TV. So instead of your regular TV, you can connect that with your portable TV.

AS FOR MY CASE (Having 2 tv's),

1. I removed the cable that is connected to the wall (RF IN or From WALL or CABLE IN).
2. I hooked that end to the "IN" part of a 3 way splitter
3. I bought a short cable and connected one end to the Cable Box and the other end to the OUT of the splitter
4. I bought a longer cable and connected one end to the portable TV and the other end to the OUT of the splitter.

5. Then I turned on the TV and pressed MENU
6. I clicked the right arrow until I see ANTENNA. I pressed the down button to choose CATV instead of AIR.
7, I did auto scanning.
My portable TV now has the basic channel while the big TV (since it is connected to the cable box) has the added digital channels. Nevertheless, it is great to have both so when I want to sleep, my hubby can just use the small tv

Tv/remote input problems

Try plugging your cable box in using a/v cables (red, white, yellow) and see if you have a picture on a different input from the box. If so, go into your general settings in the box and change the output channel to 4 instead of 3. Then try your TV on 4 and see if your picture comes in. I have seen TV tuners go out on just one channel before.
