Unfortunalty when you get a JVM 102 error JVM Error 102 means There is an issue with one or more of the .cod files installed on the BlackBerry smartphone. During the boot up cycle, the .cod files on the BlackBerry smartphone were checked for modifications and problems were determined to affect one or more files

To resolve this issue you must reload a clean OS (operating system to the device) even if you were able to back it up, you would run the risk of loading the corrupt file again. If your an AT&T customer you can get a clean version of the OS at www.att.com/bbdownloads and can get the instalation steps at https://www.wireless.att.com/support/tutorials.do?tutorialPage=page2&universe=att&deviceId=11520&tutorialsCategory=Getting+Started&tutorialId=779740

SOURCE: My blackberry 9000 bold shows

Hi, i think if you try resetting it, it might work .
There are three ways you can reset the black berry phone.

1) Soft Reset - simply press the ALT+RIGHT SHIFT(CAP)+DELETE keys.

This reset stops all applications that are running on the Blackberry and will help if you are having problems connecting the device to computer. This reset will not erase any information from your device.

2) Double Soft Reset - this reset is almost equivalent to a full hard reset. First perform a Soft Reset as outlined in Step 1.

As soon as the screen is no longer black - repeat the steps once again exactly as before.

This takes you to another screen showing an hour glass. Allow the device to reset. This helps if the device has suffered a more serious error. Be aware you may loose some information from your device. A backup is advised prior to proceeding if at all possible.

3) Hard Reset - this is the full blown reset and will fully reset the device to help resolve critical errors with software or hardware. Again back up important information before proceeding if possible.

Note: For RIM models 850, 857, 950, or 957, you must insert the end of a paperclip or similar blunt object into a small recessed hole on the back of the unit and depress the switch inside. The device will reboot and be hard reset.

Other Models: With the device turned on - remove the battery for 30 seconds or more. Now replace the battery. The device will reboot and be hard reset.

Blackberry Pearl: To reset to factory defaults enter 'Options' from the main menu. Scroll to Security Options and press the trackball. Choose 'General Settings'.

Press the left soft key, then scroll to "Wipe Handheld" with the trackball and press the trackball. To initiate the factory reset, your phones security code may be required in order for the process to complete. Your phone will now be restored to its original settings on leaving the factory.

A hard reset can be achieved with the Pearl in the same way as outlined at Step 3 by removing the battery.

Be aware that resets such as these may erase data, such as contacts, ring tones, pictures, text messages and stored Internet files and emails. Make sure to back up important information beforehand if at all possible. You can obtain software to back up the device to your computer directly from Blackberry right here.

Hope this Tip helps.

My blackberry keep sayin jvm error 102

If you get "JVM Error 102" when starting your Blackberry, read this before you wipe everything!!

I had spent hours searching for a solution to this problem (I even went to my service provider) and all I could find was that I would have to wipe the contents of my phone and start all over again -- tough luck if I didn't have backups for my contacts, appointments, program data, etc.

What it comes down to is that the JVM 102 error means that a .cod file on your phone seems to be corrupt, so the phone refuses to load it. Why wipe everything for one bad file? You might not need to!

Follow these steps:

  1. Download JL_Cmder

  2. Connect your phone to your PC using the USB cable that came with it.

  3. Run JL_Cmder and select option 2 (event log)

  4. Scroll to the bottom of the log and look for "JVM Error 102." The line before it should tell you exactly what file is causing the error. It might look something like this. Save the file name; you will need it later.

  5. Go to Start > Run, and type "cmd" then press Enter.

  6. Change directory to the JL_Cmder installation folder.
e.g., type: cd "C:\Program Files\JL_Cmder\" and press enter

  7. Type the following command to remove the offending file:

    javaloader.exe -u erase -f FILENAME

where FILENAME is the name of the .cod file.

  8. Disconnect your phone from your PC and restart it.

This might not be a permanent solution, but it should at least let you boot up your Blackberry so that you can back up all your data before reinstalling everything.

Reading jvm 102 error rest

Hi, you have to follow the instruction below to correct the jvm 102 error reset problem..
Step 1
Very Important!!!!

It is important to have the following software installed on your computer (at home and at work if you can):
1 - Desktop Manager - Hopefully this is already on your computer, if not click here:
https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...93E4F3BB068C22

2 - Device Software for your BB - Here is the link for you to get the latest OS for your Blackberry
http://blackberryforums.pinstack.com...ll_models.html

3 - Java Commander - You can download it here:
http://blackberryforums.pinstack.com...d=5&linkid=452

4 - Backups - You should be creating a backup of your device data regularly, e.g., as often as you update your calendar and/or phone book, or at least once a month. If you do not already have a data backup, you are out of luck (SOL) as your data is gone.

STEP 2
The Process
From Pinstacker JTReeves:

You should be creating a backup of your device data regularly, e.g., as often as you update your calendar and/or phone book.

If or when you get a JVM Error 102/Reset message, do the following:
1. Connect your BB to the computer.
2. Run JL_Cmder
3. Choose option 5, wipe the device. This will delete all files - OS and data - from your BB. The BB screen will show JVM Error 507. This means the BB has no files installed.
4. Using Desktop Manager, reinstall your software. When you run the Application Loader, check all the available boxes.
5. When this process completes, restore your most recent backup file.
You should be back to normal, with the exception of having to reregister OTA or other 3rd party apps. Save their reg numbers in your Memo app so that you have them handy.
