Is there an installers code or some way to overide this feature, or reset it I've had this dvd player for ten years and didn't even know it had this feature it just suddenly decided to start working. I have never entered a password before so I'm guessing it is a glitch but unplugging it didn't fix it.

Here's a link to your specific manual. A quick help would be to choose no when it asks to temporarily allow playback. Then press shift and enter. Enter the password. Set the country code and playback level you want. You may have to play a different disc before you can play the original one you wanted to see. (the m555 has this glitch)
If you don't know or can't easily guess the password, check in the manual.
Get jvcs number off of the manual ,,its at the end of the manual,,call them,,,they talked me through all the stuff to reset it,,id of NEVER figured it out,,,press this and that and unplug and so on,,,call em,,,mines fine now,,,and the kids stopped screaming,,,life is all good

I have a jvc xv-m555 that had a password set but it will only play 'G' discs or not rated. The correct password now just restarts the parental screen.
