We have a Keurig ourselves and were stumped when we first saw that descale message on the brewer.

There are a number of ways to descale a brewer, the least expensive being to run some vinegar through the machine a couple of times, and then run cold water through a few more times to rinse it.

However, simply trying to clear the lines often doesn't work. And as you will see from the many comments below, by far the most reliable way to get your Keurig brewer working again is the "Slap and Burp" method.

Here is how you do it.

First, unplug the brewer and remove both the water reservoir and drip tray.

Next, hold the brewer upside down over the sink and slap the base a few times. And I mean really slap it.

Now put everything back together and try brewing again. Most of the time this works with a couple of good slaps. If not, try it again.

And don't worry, there are no laws against giving your Keurig a good slapping!

Good luck!

SOURCE: Keurig starts & stops without brewing coffee, just descaled

The pic is clogged with coffee or the air bladder is bad. Use the tool on the underside of the tray to clean out pic. If that doesn't work, the bladder will be bad.

SOURCE: After performing a descaling cycle, the descaling light still flashes, what is wrong?

The manual states that after you descale, you have to hold down the hot water button for 6 seconds, that will turn it off and "reset the timer" till the next time it needs to descale.

SOURCE: My Keurig B60 is Suddenly Brewing WEAK Coffee

I don't have a solution but have just experienced the same problem and am baffled. I am using the same beans same grind. In fact using the exact same grind it went from great one day to weak the next day.  I always run it for 15 - 16 secs to get the shot and that hasn't changed. Pressure and temperature appear fine. I cleaned the top of the top filter which was a little dirty but not seriously bad - no change. The coffee flow which is normally chocolate coloured to start with is just mid brown.

Need a descaler

instractions are from manual HD7810/00

Use the correct descaling agent
Only citric acid-based descalers are suitable for descaling the SENSEO
machine. This
type of descaler descales the machine without damaging it. For the correct amount,
see under 'Descaling procedure' below. Each descaling mixture can be used only once.
After use, the descaling mixture is no longer active.
We advise you to use the special SENSEO
Descaler (HD7012/HD7011/HD7006).
Read the instructions on the package of the descaling agent.
Never use a descaling agent based on mineral acids such as sulphuric acid,
hydrochloric acid, sulphamic acid and acetic acid (e.g. vinegar). These descaling
agents may damage your SENSEO

coffee machine.
Descaling procedure
1 Mix 50 grams of citric acid with 1 litre of water in a measuring jug. Stir until
the powder is completely dissolved.
2 Fill the water reservoir up to the MAX indication with the descaler mixture.
Then put the water reservoir back into the coffee machine. (Fig. 3)
Note: Not all SENSEO
machine types have a water reservoir with a capacity of
1 litre. If you have a SENSEO

machine with a smaller water reservoir, repeat steps
2 to 6 with the remainder of the mixture without filling the water reservoir up to
the MAX indication.
3 Press on/off button 3. (Fig. 10)
The machine is ready for use when the indicator light lights up continuously.
4 Place the 1-cup holder h with a used coffee pod in it in the coffee machine.
Close the lid and make sure it is properly locked.
Note: Always put a used coffee pod in the pod holder when you descale the
machine. This pod serves as a 'filter' to prevent the sieve or hole in the pod holder
from getting clogged with scale residue.
5 Put a bowl with a capacity of at least 1500ml under the spout to collect the
descaling mixture (Fig. 8).
6 Press the 2-cup button hhand let the machine operate. Repeat this until
the water reservoir is empty. (Fig. 25)
Never interrupt the descaling process!
7 Repeat steps 1 to 6. Replace the used pod with another used pod to filter out
the scale residue.
Note: To descale properly, you have to use 2 litres of descaling mixture.
Never descale the SENSEO
coffee machine with the lid open. Make sure the lid is
properly locked.
8 Rinse the water reservoir with tap water. Fill the water reservoir up to the
MAX indication with tap water and repeat steps 3 to 6.
Note: Do not refill the water reservoir with used hot water or the used descaling
mixture.
9 Fill the water reservoir with fresh tap water up to the MAX indication again
and repeat steps 3 to 6 once more.
Note: Always rinse the machine by letting it empty two full water reservoirs.
10 Remove the used pad and clean the pod holder after descaling to prevent the
sieve or hole in the centre from getting clogged.

Giaggia Brera descaling problem

Hi,
been talking to Gaggia (Philips) and they told me that with the newer Breras, you need to ill the water tank, put the machine into standby, then press the long and short cup buttons together for 6 seconds. This will start an auto descale programme (that they didn't mention in my manual!). A small amount of water will be dispensed through the coffee nozzles, then it will stop and the warning triangle and the prime warning light will come on. Place a large container under the panarello, then turn the knob to the right to dispense water. It will dispense about 50 - 100 mls (cold) water, then stop for about a minute. Just leave it and eventually it will empty the tank. Refill it and start again, but it will stop after a few seconds. Turn the knob back to central position, then it will dispense another small amount of water from the coffee nozzles, then stop with warning lights again. Turn the knob back right to dispense water, if it stops because of empty tank, just refill it. Eventually, the machine will stop and go to standby. Turn the knob back to the centre, refill tank yet again and the machine will start normally WITHOUT that descale warning light. HOORAY !!

The descale light keeps blinking, what should I do?

The 'Descale' light that turns on indicates that it is time to de-scale the machine.
Scale - or mineral deposits- form from the water you run through your Keurig coffee machine. If not cleaned regularly, the buildup can clog the lines in your machine and ruin the heating element. The manufacturer recommends you descale Keurig coffee makers once every six months for normal water conditions and once every three months if you live in an area with hard water.
You will need :
  • Keurig coffee maker
  • 48 oz. white distilled vinegar
  • Water
  • Large ceramic cup
  • Sink

Instructions :
  • 1 Unplug the coffee machine and remove the cup.
  • 2 Turn the coffee machine upside down over the sink in order to fully drain it of water. Be careful of the plug and avoid getting it wet.
  • 3 Pour undiluted white vinegar into the reservoir up to the top edge of the viewing window.
  • 4 Place a ceramic cup under the machine, plug it in and press "Brew" for a large cup. Pour the cups of vinegar into the sink and repeat the process until the reservoir is empty.
  • 5 Remove the final cup of vinegar and empty it. Fill the coffee maker with clean water and allow it to sit for four hours, remaining on.
  • Good luck ;)

The descaling light stays on even though I have gone thru the process of descaling.

You are not completing the descale program. See below.

    10.3 DESCALING
Due to the continuous heating of the water used to make the coffee, over
time it is normal for the tubing inside the machine to fill with lime scale.
When the light starts flashing( chap. 12-point 5), it is time to descale
    the machine.
NOTE: when the light switches on, the coffee maker can still be used to
    prepare coffee.
    Proceed as follows:
ā€¢ Empty the tank and pour in the contents of one bottle (125 ml) of
DURGOL descaler plus one liter of water. For subsequent descaling
operations, descaling solution can be purchased from authorised
    technical service centres.
NB: Make sure splashes of descaler do not fall onto surfaces sensitive
to acid such as marble, limestone and glaze.
ā€¢ place a container with a minimum capacity of 1.5 litres under
    the milk frother (Fig. 3);
ā€¢ turn the machine on by pressing the button (Fig. 4).
ā€¢ wait for the green and indicator lights to come on steady.
ā€¢ press and hold the button for at least 5 seconds (Fig.14). The
light inside the button switches on (chap. 11 - point 8) to indicate
the start of the descaling program (the and lights remain
off to indicate that it is not possible to make coffee).
ā€¢ turn the steam knob half a turn anticlockwise (Fig.5). The
descaling solution will come out of the milk frother and start to
    fill the container underneath.
ā€¢ the descaling program automatically performs a series of deliveries
and pauses, so as to remove the lime scale deposits from
    inside the coffee maker.

    OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
ā€¢ after around 30 minutes, when the light comes on (chap. 12 - GB
point 1), turn the steam knob half a turn clockwise (Fig.6) until it
    stops.
The machine must be rinsed so as to eliminate the residues of descaling
solution from inside the machine. Proceed as follows:
ā€¢ remove the water tank, rinse it and fill it with clean water.
    ā€¢ reposition the tank.
ā€¢ empty the collection container (located under the milk frother) that is
full of liquid, and then replace it under the milk frother.
ā€¢ turn the steam knob half a turn anticlockwise (Fig. 5). Hot water will
come out of the milk frother and fill the container underneath.
ā€¢ when the tank is empty, the light goes off and the light
    comes on (chap. 12 - point 1).
ā€¢ turn the steam knob all the way clockwise (Fig. 6) and fill the water
    tank with clean water again.
ā€¢ the program of descaling is hour terminated and the machine is
ready per do again the coffee.

NOTE: if the descaling procedure is stopped before completion, the
alarm (chap. 12 - point 5) is not deactivated and the procedure
must be started again form the beginning.

IMPORTANT: THE GUARANTEE IS NOT VALID IF THE ABOVE DESCALING OPERATION
    IS NOT PERFORMED REGULARLY.

Tassimo red light stays on ran descaling disc twice

After many months, I solved the problem of the red light staying on the Tassimo Coffee Maker. Use these easy steps.
    1. Fill a 2 cup measuring cup with hot water.
    2. Mix in descaler.
    3. Pour in the empty water tank.
    4. Put the yellow cleaning disk in the chamber and close chamber. Put the two cup measuring cup under the spout.
    5. Push and hold the brew button for about 3 seconds (until the red and green light flash.
    6. Now don't touch the machine. It will do it's thing for about 20 minutes. (Don't be impatient and start to push buttons, just leave it)
    7. When it finishes it's cycle. The red light will turn off. Then clean the water tank and put fresh water and run clean water through the brewing cycle 4 times. Your machine is now ready for use.

My Keurig just started only filling my mug 1/2 full on the large cup setting. I now have to run a full cup option, open and close the lid, and then run the 1/2 cup option to end up with a full cup of...

Have you tried following the descaling procedure given in your owner's manual? The mineral build-up from hard water can cause low flow, and since the machine pumps for a fixed time this means less water in the cup. Descaling usually brings back normal operation.

    Red descale light is on

I use distilled white vinegar, but you can use specialized coffee cleaners with this model:

    Descaling
    Descaling 11
Descale your Tassimo machine every three months to keep it
    operating at full potential.
    1
Descaling products are widely available from stores selling coffeemakers and espresso
machines. Only use a product intended for descaling. Mix the descaling product
directly in the water container, following the instructions provided on the descaling
packaging. Replace the water container on the machine.
2 Place a large cup or mug on the cup stand, insert the cleaning disc, bar code down,
and close the brew mechanism. When the AUTO light illuminates, press and release
the start/stop button. The brew cycle will fill the machine with descaling solution. Empty
the cup and let the machine stand for 15 minutes.
3 Open the brew mechanism and close it again, leaving the cleaning disc in place.
When the AUTO light illuminates, press and release the start/stop button. When the
machine stops running, empty the cup, and let the machine stand for 15 minutes.
Repeat this step two more times for maximum descaling effectiveness. Discard the
remaining descaling agent from the water container, rinse it thoroughly and refill
    with fresh, cold water.
4 Open and close the brew mechanism again, leaving the cleaning disc in place.
When the AUTO light illuminates, press and hold the start/stop button to flush water
through the machine. The MANUAL light will flash. When the cup is full, release the
start/stop button, empty the cup, and replace it on the cup stand.
5 Repeat step 4, flushing clean water through the machine in the same manner and
emptying the cup as it fills. To ensure that all the descaling solution is completely rinsed
away, flush two full water containers through the machine before using it again.
