Try to restart the pc and then check if the cursor is locked. You may use a external mouse to rectify this issue.. Or you may press Fn + F5 so that the touchpad is unlocked...

My cursor on my HP doesn't work. don't want to use a mouse.

i'm sure that there's a button to lock the trackpad,it's near the panel.you need to press it once again to turn the panel on
I think it's right above the trackpad
or look on your laptops keyboard for a picture like trackpad press it with the function Fn button at the same time
or it should be the hardware
the trackpad cable maybe doesn't installed properly, not locked or something

Cursor on my toshiba sattelite is locked

Hi

This is not automatic lock but you have turned off the trackpad

Hold the Fn key and press F9 key this will re-activate the mouse and then you can use it.

It is provided to turn off because then you type if your palm touch the trackpad the cursor will move and you may start typing somewhere else.

Cursor locks in middle of screen and unable to move it

One possible reason is that you might have locked your trackpad. HP along with many other laptops have a designated button that locks your touchpad so the cursor doesn't move on the screen.
Above your keypad there's a small little rectangular button. Try pressing it and it should unlock your trackpad.
Give this a shot, and I hope it works!

I have hp pavilion dv3655ee\r\nsometime hang and locks every things, only i should power off with power bottom. i have windows 7 home. and bitdefender total security 2010.

- If the system locks but you can still move the cursor. i recommend a tune up of your system by removing unwanted programs/ delete any garbage files/
- if its locking that you cant even move the cursor anymore its a hard drive issue/ call HP/ Os re installation will not help you solve the problem if the hard drive is the problem. thanks

Unlock cursor

If your cursor is locking up, first make sure you are using the correct pointer device driver. if you are, then you need to run a utility to scan the drive for errors.

Cursor (pointer) Locks Up

Go to my computer, right click>properties>hardware tab>device manager, then look down the list for mouse and pointing devices, click the '+' sign and right click on your touchpad listing and select uninstall, and then restart the pc.

In Vista start control panel>classic view, then device manager

The touchpad will be reinstalled and then ready to use again as it should be back to normal
