No Sound In Home Theater with Dish HDTV DVR Dual Mode Remote Connection

I have Insignia 19" LCD TV NC-LCD19 and Insignia DVD Home Theater system bought at store on 12/31/07. DVDs, Sirius radio IAV2) all play well enough through home theater speaker system. Connected is also older Sony VCR, with coax in and out connection, rca in and out connections.
Wanted to play tv sound via home theater also, but cannot find right wiring setup.
TV signal and sound come from DIsh HDTV DVR Satellite Receiver, in Dual Mode and this tv, the insignia, is connected as the Remote. Means that only connection possible with that Dish receiver is via coax cable. Receiver is approx 80 ft of cable away from Insignia tv, two stories down, via outside run.
No other connection is possible.
Is it possible somehow to wire this setup so as to be able to play tv sound also via Insignia Home Theater? When purchased, all was explained to sales persona and I was assured that it was possible.

I have a high definition Polaroid tv which I bought in 2007. I have it connected to Dish tv. It worked fine at first. Now when I use the Dish tv remote, the television won't power up. The red light, which appears when the television is off turns blue when I attempt to turn the tv on, but the screen stays black. Why won't the television come on anymore?

HDTV is not carried via coaxial cable from tuner, you need HDMI or the 5 RCA cables that are different colors. I forget if they are called component or composite, I think they are called composite, the R and W are sound. If you run the HDMI or composite cables to your TV, there should be a variable out or audio out on the back of the TV that outputs ANY sound coming into the TV, like Wii, DVD, tv, etc. So if you want to listen to tv sound, just pipe the audio out to the receivers available input and turn it up. Cant be used with mag input (turntable) all others are compatible. Did this answer your question? Sat cables are usually kept under 130 ft from the dish, and the dish receiver can output coaxial signal over 400ft on RG-6 cable. HDMI is limited and can get very expensive. Does your sat box have a coaxial digital out (orange RCA) you can use that if your receiver can read it, usually associated with the DVD input or video input, but only for digital encoded programs.

try checking the menu setting on your Dish Network, there may be a television format in that menu set up, if it is only when a dvd player is playing, then check the format on that, so on so forth... that is one place to start, check if it is local (TV) or if it is from attached component ( Dish dvr/ dvd etc). also refer to your owner's manual.. if all else fails, call customer service @ insignia

Need remote controller

Check out the Logitech Harmony series of remotes that can be programmed to operate all your electronics from activity-based buttons.  For example pressing the "Watch Movies" button will turn on the TV and select the DVD input, turn on the home theater, and turn on the DVD.  Then the buttons on the remote will control the appropriate device (home theater for sound, play buttons for DVD, etc.)

I just bought a Dynex DX-LCD19-09 19 inch TV. I also have a Phillips home theater system. I have digital cable and I cant figure out how to hook it up to where i can watch regular tv but hear it through...

The only audio out jack on your TV is for the headphone on the left side of the TV. You need to purchase a 3.5 mm to RCA audio cable, connect the 3.5mm jack to the left side of your TV and the 2 RCA audio cable ends to the audio in of your Home Theater and then select AUX 1 or AUX 2 on the home theater depending on which jacks you plugged into.

No Audio Out through the Optical OUT jack

First and foremost when the chance comes along buy a Harmony remote. Your spouse will love the simplification. A couple of things, On the tv with the optical hose connected and the other end in your hand, do you see the light. Its not a laser and eye safe. Should be a red glow. If not, implies two things the tvs optical is bad or it needs to be enabled via tv menu audio settings. If you see the red glow, then its a protocol issue. Verify your tv is setup on the proper audio mode that your receiver is wanting to see. Probably PCM. I am not directly farmiliar with the tv, but using the dish receiver as a reference (you know its working) set the audio options on the tv similar to the dish receiver. IE pcm, dts, etc.. Let me know thanks
