I have a jazzy select 14 with an on board charger. The on board charger appears to not be functioning. What steps should I take to try and trouble shoot this myself. Im wondering if the circuit breaker has gone bad( if thats possible)..the fuse attached to the circuit breaker appears fine and the analog amp meter on the back of the chair indicates no charge occuring...the dynamic coontroller does flash indicating its charging, but i know its not...i have also ruled out bad batteries as well as the conection from thee power cord plug to the cicuit breaker...thanks for your help

Mike since you know that the charger is not working you have two options purchase a new on-board charger or try to locate a good off-board charger from the area. A friend that has an extra charger or from a local provider that sells chairs. The off-board charger will plug into the charger port under the front of the joystick and will charge the batteries just as well. Just don't use the on-board charger but leave it in the chair. Hope this helps

I have a Pride Jazzy Elite. When I plug into the charger both the power light and the charge light turn green. Any help?

Question edited for clarity and to add the maker.
Question moved to the correct category.

Green lights normally mean your charger is working and the battery is fully charged Leasa.

There are three flavours of Jazzy Elite, this is the manual for one of them. not very helpful on the green lights though.

Only the red light comes on jazzy select charger

Batteries must be stored on a full charge. For extended periods they should be disconnected. If your batteries are flat/dead the charger will not attempt to charge them. You should remove your batteries and check and try to charge them individually. Sometimes they will come alive, must of the time they won't. Charge them individually with a 12 volt 2 amp charger - no higher; or in series with a 24 volt 4 amp charger.

The onboard charger on my Jazzy 1113 does not work after replacing the gel batteries. Do I need to replace the onboard charger?

If you have checked the charger and are sure it isn't working. Then you have two options: You can buy a new on-board charger or try to locate a good used off-board charger from someone in your local area. Or maybe borrow one from a neighbor that has a power chair to see if it will charge your batteries. You just plug the off-board charger into the charger port located under the front of your joystick. Off-board chargers should be cheaper than an on-board from Pride. Hope this helps

Jazzy Select 6 Indoor Power Wheelchair: how to charge...

The Jazzy Select 6 requires an off-board charger. Plug the charger into a grounded outlet; preferably one that doesn't have other large loads on the circuit like refrigerator, freezer, microwave, etc. The male 3-prong XLR connector coming off the other end of the charger plugs into a female XLR connector which is on the joystick control's bottom-rear. Charge it overnight after each days use, and at least once each month overnight. You should get 2-4 hours of use from the chair at top speed with a 200 pound driver, depending on terrain and climate. If it isn't holding a charge, you will probably need two new U-1 type gel sealed batteries that run about $120.00 or so each. Make sure you test the old batteries first at a knowledgeable battery shop. These are deep cycle batteries and require a special testing. If the batteries are good, then your charger isn't charging. Search EBay or other online sites for a wheelchair charger in the 4-6 amp range. They can be found for about $45.00 or so. Pride will charge you a lot more.

Pride Jazzy Select batteries not charging

If you use an automotive charger you have to charge each battery individually as they should be 12vdc hooked in series.

Clean contacts and assure yourself that each lead is charging properly. Jazzy has many different models so it impossible to know which you have. But there should be some info on the charger to tell you if your output is 24v or 2-12volt DC leads.

Jazzy has a web site and there is a member section where you can ask questions.
