For normal operation, set this control to the center position.
This feature has several uses and can help receiver operation.
If a received signal is slightly off frequency, the Delta-Tune control can be used to òfine-tuneó your receiver. Fine tuning is accomplished by listening for a more readable signal at the speaker or by noting the Smeter reading when the Delta-Tune control is operated. Another use of this control is eliminating adjacent interference (bleed over from other channels). If an exceptionally high level signal from an adjacent channel is creating interference on the channel being used, the Delta-Tune can be used to minimize or eliminate the interference. Rotate the control until you obtain minimum adjacent channel interference. NOTE: Delta-Tune is operable only in the receive mode.

It doesn't actually help receive any better, just can help kinda like a clairifier.

How to wire a Delta M3 to a Cobra 29 LTD Classic

Wiring a Delta M3 microphone to a Cobra 29 LTD Classic CB radio requires connecting the wires from the microphone to the corresponding pins on the radio's microphone jack. Here are the steps:
  1. Locate the microphone jack on the front of the Cobra 29 LTD Classic CB radio.
  2. Examine the Delta M3 microphone's wiring. It should have four wires: a black wire, a red wire, a white wire, and a shield wire.
  3. Determine the pin configuration of the microphone jack on the Cobra 29 LTD Classic CB radio. The pin configuration is usually printed next to the microphone jack or in the owner's manual.
  4. Connect the Delta M3's black wire to the pin on the microphone jack that corresponds to the radio's ground connection.
  5. Connect the Delta M3's red wire to the pin on the microphone jack that corresponds to the radio's positive voltage connection.
  6. Connect the Delta M3's white wire to the pin on the microphone jack that corresponds to the radio's audio input connection.
  7. Connect the Delta M3's shield wire to the pin on the microphone jack that corresponds to the radio's shield connection.
  8. Test the microphone by speaking into it while monitoring the audio output on the Cobra 29 LTD Classic CB radio.
Note: If you are unsure about the wiring or pin configuration, consult the owner's manual for your CB radio or seek assistance from a qualified technician. Improper wiring can damage your radio or microphone, and may result in poor audio quality or no audio at all.

I have a cobra 29 Ltd chrome what is the dynamite and the rfgain and the delta tune and the talk back used for. What do you set it on

The mic gain is your output audio volume or modulation. RF Gain is you reception sensitivity. Delta tune is a gimmick it is supposed to slide the frequency a few kHz up or down for you reception of a radio that might have drifted off channel. Talkback is a tool to give you an idea of what you sound like ie quality of mic or volume or adjusting echo if you have added such a board to your radio. As far as adjustments RF gain is preferance. Mic all the way up on stock radio. Delta tune 12 o'clock. Talkback user preference. Take care......hope this was of help

What is a voic box on a cobra 29 ltd? What is a good antt combo four a 29 ltd?

Cobra's LTD 29 model Citizen's Band radio features the full 40 channels allowed and a heavy-duty microphone. The radio provides 4 watts of AM radio frequency output with a switchable automatic noise limiter and noise blanker. Other features include Cobra's Delta-Tune function. Making a Cobra LTD 29 hear and receive better involves making changes to the radio's settings, including the settings specific to this brand.
M/F Turn the switch labeled "NB/ANL, ANL, OFF" to the "ANL" position and try the transmission again if noise is affecting reception. "ANL" is an automatic noise limiter function and reduces noise caused by the vehicle's electrical systems and electronics.

M/F Switch to "NB/ANL" to activate the noise blanker, which may also reduce noise if you continue to have problems. It's an RF noise filtration function and will help with ignition noise.

M/F Adjust the "RF Gain" knob by turning it clockwise to increase gain in weak signal areas if you have problems hearing radio traffic.

M/F Set the "Delta-Tune" function to capture a more listenable signal and get rid of adjacent channel noise. Rotate the knob labeled "Deltatune" to the center position for best tuning. Try micro-adjustments to the left or right as well.

M/F Turn the volume up if you still can't hear and as with any CB radio, adjust the squelch if the radio is noisy when there's no traffic. Turn the knob labeled "Squelch" all the way to the left to receive all signals, including noise and turn the control clockwise until the background noise stops. You will be able to hear the strongest transmissions without having to listen to weak signals and noise.

I dont think my talkback works on my cobra 29 ltd chrome. am i doing something wrong?

was it already installed or did you set it up ? If its a talk back that is an s.m.d. then it is usually controlled by the rf gain and the delta tune .Some will mount it to be controlled by the mic gain.Others try it out by attaching a resistor to the PA and external speaker plugs on the back of the radio. you may have to use a bigger resistor or even a smaller resistor to get it to work the way you want it to .

How can i get my dx iv to recieve better by tunin

I am unaware of any dramatic improvement from tuning or germanium or schottky diode swaps in rigs that are the solutions in cobra 29 and galaxy radios.
You will see more promising result from a good quality antenna (wilson 2000 and coaxial cable 95% shielded. Then consider a preamp for improved RX however the nature of the AM band that cb radios operate on is overran with interference when you amplify the reception you also increase the noise and the filtering just is not there in these units.
The cobra 19 and uniden 510 such radios are very popular but cheaply made units you would be much happier with a Cobra 29 Chrome which is inexpensive but in my opinion has better reception than the cobra 29 ltd with the soundtracker gimmick.

I am a new Truck Driver and I had given to me a good used Cobra 29 LTD CLASSIC CB radio for my Truck. It is missing the owners manual. Can you please tell me what I need to know about the settings on the...

I have the same radio as well. If you are running a "stock factory mic".....do this:
VOLUME: set to your comfort
SQUELCH:all the way to the left (if you don't mind hearing everything other wise adjust to the right to illiminate noise)
DYNAMIKE:If you have a factory mic or "noise canceling mic", turn all the way to the right (unless it squeals and then turn the mic gain down slowly until the squealing stops)
RF GAIN:that is your "receive" and I always turn it all the way to the right to maximize reception! In my opinion, this is the dumbest knob ever made since why not hear as good as you can??? thats what the SQUELCH is for!
DELTA TUNE: IT IS "USELESS!!!
SWR CALIBRATE: don't ever trust it! ALWAYS USE A GOOD SWR METER "IN LINE"
Now as for the "SWITCHES"
The top left switch is the SWR and as I stated, do NOT trust it and leave it on "S/RF (TOP)
SWITCH TWO: If you have it on OFF, you may get allot of engine spark plug firing noise so I run mine in the "middle" (ANL)
THIRD SWITCH: CB
FOURTH SWITCH: Brightness is to your liking!
There ya go! You can always set the switches to your liking and comfort.

29 LTD classic recieve is way off frequency. recieve sounds like bleed over from another channel. how do i adjust the receive frquency for a cobra 29 ltd classic?

un fortunatly to properly align this radio you need an audio VTVM, occiliscope and a dummy load.

but before you get crazy with trying to align your radio, is the delta tune right in the middle? if not thats why recieve is off.... as well you can adjust delta tune to compensate for off frequency.

New radio

Hi,

Assuming no hardware faults, start with the basics, on powering on the radio:
1. RG Gain max clockwise;
2. Ch 9/NOR to Normal;
3. Delta Tune to mid position;
4. CB/PA to CB;
5. Squelch to minimum counter clockwise;
6. Channel selector to desired channel.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.
