I just bought a new computer loaded with windows 7 and I want to know what I can do to get my Printmaster 18 to work with this system. I just purchased Printmaster 2011 and it doesn't seem to be as user friendly as version 18. I'm sure I need a lot of practice but, until I work out the kinks, I want to continue to work with version 18.

Having compatability problems installing

Hi, PrintMaster is known for having versions that are not compatible with certain Windows Operating Systems, 18 is known to not work with Vista, yet works with 7 and XP quite well. The best solution would be either to upgrade to Windows 7 or get another version. Good luck!

You can try version 15 in compatibility mode:

Troubleshoot Compatibility
This can help with some (but not all) programs/drivers:
1) Uninstall the program if it's already installed. Then when you install/reinstall it instead of double clicking on the install file right click it and select "Troubleshoot Compatibility"
2) Then click "Try Recommended Settings" and in the next window click "Start the Program" to install it.
3) After it installs see if it works correctly. Please note - some programs may not be able to run in Windows 7.

Printmaster platinum 8.0 is rather an old 16bits software and it is not compatible to your new version Win 7 OS.

You can check software compatibility @ Windows 7 Compatibility Center

Your option is to upgrade to version 18 which is Win 7 compatible.

Installing PrintMaster 18 on any computer requires .NET Framework 1.1 to be installed on the hard drive. If NET Framework 1.1 is not installed, it will be installed from thePrintMaster 18 install disk before PrintMaster 18 is installed. Maybe, It doesn't work because the driver/application you installed is for other versions of operating system. I am also using windows 7 like you so don't you worry, You can still use your old installer/driver from other versions of operating systems. Just remember that before installing any program in a windows 7 Operating System Computer, Use "troubleshoot compatibility". Right Click the Icon of your program installer/application first, then choose "troubleshoot compatibility". This will allow you to choose on what type operating system your program will run. Unfortunately, the 'New' PrintMaster 2011 will not import any older PrintMaster .sig files created prior to PrintMaster 2.0. This means that over 1,100 projects I have,going back to 2004 are now useless. Did they even consider this before coming out with the new version? Is this the way that Broderbund treats long time customers of their product? Apparently so...so I will no longer be using any of their products from now on. I don't see any excuse for their actions.

I so agree! I am going to try ot return it. This is just stupid as far as I am concerned. I updated because my new computer wouldn't allow me to create a pdf file. The program was a few years old so I thought updating would be the answer. WRONG!
