On a Cannon Powershot IXUS 86015 How do i change the language back to english?

Press the playback button (right-pointing triangle). Press and hold the FUNC/SET button and press the menu button. Use the cursor keys to select the language and press the FUNC/SET button.

Turn the camera on, and make sure you are in the playback mode (not picture taking mode). Press and hold the FUNC button, and while holding it press the MENU button. You should see a list of languages available on the LCD screen. Use the arrow keys to select English, then press the FUNC button again.

Make sure the camera is in Replay mode (triangle), then hold down the Set button and press the Menu button. The LCD should now display a list of available languages. Release both buttons. Use the arrow keys to select 'English' and press the Set button again.

I think your model is the Ixus 860 IS (SD870 IS in North America) but it's no big deal really.

Sounds like you should probably just reset all the settings back to default and start over, you never know what you may have changed that you don't want changed.

Most likely all you did was decrease the time before the camera goes into power save mode and turns off the LCD to save battery power, but I think starting over is probably a good thing.

Hey taurental,
What you want to do is go to the setup menu, which is symbolized by a hammer and a wrench. Once in the setup menu the language selection should be 3 selections down from the top. I hope this helps!
