The backlight invertor seems to be defective.
Check the main power supply board for bad capacitors (visible damage ) and make sure that the invertor tubes do not light up for a moment when you power up the monitor ( in that case their probably is one or more light tube defective (burnt)) --

I have no video ihave audio, the screen stay black

Hi Doug,
Please try a flash light on the screen. If you can see a faint picture, the fault is with the backlights. In samsung LCD TVs it is the bad inverter board which is often found responsible for this fault.
Good Luck.

Backlight Inverter Repalced still not working

dim the lights in the room, turn on the set, and shine a bright flash light on the screen. Do you see a faint picture? Also be advised that there are a lot of bad parts floating around on EBay. No backlight condition could be cause by a bad main board, power supply, inverter board, high voltage short on the inverter output, or a bad backlight bulb.

Have a Samsung SyncMaster 731B (Black) 17 inch LCD Monitor. The screen is black other than a very very very faint glow of the box when pushing the setting and menu buttons. Any ideas?

Might be a case of the backlight giving up. If this is the case, you have two options, replace the backlight (expensive and pretty difficult to do a good job of) or replace the whole thing. I'd go with the second option, as LCD monitors are pretty cheap at the moment! Stick with Samsung SyncMasters though, they do good price monitors that are reasonably reliable too. Either that or a Dell monitor.

Hello, My Samsung monitor(Model 740N) blanked out suddenly. I tried to restart and nothing appeared on the screen. I am not able to go in the safe mode too as nothing is visible. While the system...

If you can see the screen image very faintly, the backlight system has shut down. This can be due to a component failure (driver transistor, transformer, or ccfl tube) or action by the backlight controller. Without disassembly and more information (test results) from within it is not possible to diagnose further.

SCREEN GOES BLACK AFTER A FEW SECONDS AFTER TURNING MONITOR ON.

More often then not, this is attributed to a failing Backlight Inverter. A Backlight Inverter, is a power board mounted below the screen that actually send power to the Lamp inside the LCD itself. Check to see, when it goes out if there isn't still some images faint in the screen. If this is the case take it to a local repair shop and have them order one and replace it. repair cost for this shuold be around 65-100 dollars.

If this helps, please rate my solution. Have a great day.

ACER SCREEN IS BLACK BUT CAN FAINTLY SEE LOG IN BOX

Sounds like the backlight for the LCD is dead, either the light itself or the power inverter. If you're not a tech, you should take it in for repair. If you are a tech, you can usually find replacement lamps and inverters on EBay. Hope this helps.
