I recently dropped my Canon PowerShot SD1000 Digital Elph and, I'm hoping I can repair it. The slide (to switch between Camera, Video and Review) is not functioning and the camera is stuck in review mode. The switch slides but, doesn't change to the different modes. I have taken the back panel of and, having a hard time figuring out if there is a piece that has broken off or what the slide catches on to change. Obviously without a camera to take pictures of it, I will have a hard time describing so, have found images on the web: http://www.geekpapa.com/arts/newscreen/scn2.jpg The angle on this is off but, it looks like there is a little black bit that sticks out of the piece right under where the slide is on the back cover. Mine does not have anything..i see a silver rectangular plate over black plastic but, no little lever extending out to the side of the silver plate. Nothing came out or was loose in the camera when I removed the back cover so, I am CONFUSED!!!!

I have a Cannon SD1000 stuck in revie mode. My daughter pulled it

If this was indeed dropped STOP! take it to a camera shop so they can do the repairs as you could damage other parts in the camera.

What could have happend when she dropped the camera the sensor inside got stuck into position to protect it from further damage. My advice is spend a couple bucks and take it in you be glad you did!

CANON SD1000 can't TURN vertical downloaded video into horizontal

If you have windows movie maker (its part of the default installation of windows XP) you can use the rotate filter in the video effects tools.
Import your video into movie maker and select "Video Effects" under tools.  Scroll through the various effects until you find the "rotate 90".  Apply the effect and save the video.
I hope this helps!

Card locked

Have you tried looking at the memory card? Sometimes there is a switch on the card itself that slides up and down to lock, or unlock the card for usage. Hope this helps! (It should be white, and a semi-translucent plastic.)

Can't switch from photo taking to photo review

Assuming your LCD still works, go to the camera settings and reset the entire camera to the default factory settings. This will help you determine if it is a hardware or software problem. If you are still unable to get into the photo review, you may have a hardware problem.
