This is more than likely due to a broken control valve assembly. I'm seeing quite a few machines come in for replacement of this part.
To be sure, disconnect the hose and turn on the machine. If it still shuts off immediately, or if you place your hand over the opening and it shuts off, it's due to a bad cva. If it continues running, then the problem is more likely due to a clog in the hose or the tube in the power nozzle.
Also, try replacing or removing the afterfilter and see if that makes a difference.
If your vacuum runs fine without the hose attached, a clogged hose is another possibility. Try dropping marble or coin down the hose and allowing it roll through. If it doesn't, that means a clog. Remove the tool holder from back of machine, remove afterfilter, and attach hose to exhaust outlet. Place the other end of the hose in a garbage can or bag and turn on vacuum. This is usually enough to clear the hose.

SOURCE: with a new bag -after turning vacuum on, it shuts down
I used to be a service manager for Electrolux.
For a blocked hose, turn the hose around and **** the clog out the way it came it. If you have the exhaust connectoin, plug the hose in there and put the other end at the intake, and blow it out.
For the "Bag Full" problem, in the bag area, look for a very small metal circle, about 1/8" diameter, with a hole in it about this ○ big.. This is the vacuum port. Use an old DRY toothbrush to clean it out. If this doeas.t take care of it, the diaphragm (Vacuum motor) is bad.
