I am looking for a manual for the Sylvania Netbook SYNET07526 that I just purchased at CVS. There is only a quickstart guide in the box.

The Quick Start Guide is the only documentation that you get with the SYNET07526. If you go to the site http://digitalgadgets.com/ that is listed in the QS manual you will find this to be true. There is not much else you can do to the machine. except turn it on and start up the WiFi connection. There is no available setup, since the CE operating system is embeded in a chip on the machine that you cannot change.

If the OS is embedded on a chip that you cannot change then how come DigitalGadgets offers an OS Updated download?

  • Norman Worley May 31, 2011

The up date is very much like you would flash your CPU that motherboard manufacturers offer on many computers such as ASUS or video cards such as Invidea. There is a special way you have to do this Digital Gadgets upgrade that will address your embedded CPU, so that you can be sure of a succesful flash, or you may "BRICK" the CPU just as you would do to other CPUs if you fail to follow the specific way. See my suggested "Flash method found at:http://www.fixya.com/support/r7350901-fi...

How can I get it to move . It is stuck on "Loading OS Image...." I' ve got it on top of desk next to wireless router.

  • Norman Worley Jun 23, 2011

You will have to re-flash your operating system. You can down load the system from www.digitalgadgets.com, but you must first unzip the file before writing the "script" file to a SDcard. See my tip at: http://www.fixya.com/support/r7350901-fi...

The windows sub-directory includes several .htm files that can be browsed using the IE on the system. Save these to the favorites. This will give you a small manual with some differences between what it says and what the box actually does but it is better than "nothing".

    SYLVANIA SmartBook Operating System Update:
    * Format an SD card 1GB or larger to FAT32
    * Insert formated SD card into your PC
    Download and save the
    http://digitalgadgets.com/netbooks/sylva...

    # Unzip the sylvania_smartbook_OS_update.zip file to the root of an SD card.
    # This should result in the creation of a folder called script in the root directory of the SD card
    # Insert the SD card into the SmartBook (netbook) device and power on the netbook.
    # The netbook will update its software.
    # When completed, remove the SD card and reboot the netbook.

Downloaded this and installed it SYNET07526 and it made a big improvement.

I have recently come across a manual that looks like it is for this class of netbook. It is not an exact fit but its not bad. I have copied it to the downloads at the Yahoo Sylvania Netbook group. I found it here:http://www.hpcfactor.com/downloads/resul...

Cant get internet

  • Norman Worley Jan 16, 2011

If you want to get the internet, then try and follow the suggestions below.

It is looking for a password (WiFi Network Key) You have to double click on the little computer icon down in the right tool bar area, the one with the two side radiating arcs, and possibly has a small red X under it. The red X indicates that it is NOT connected. When you double click on that icon a window called RT28701 opens up, then you click on Wireless Information tab, then you cursor down to the name of your WiFi and high light it and click the connect box. Then another window opens up called Network Properties. Uncheck "The key is provided automatically" box. This will allow you to type in your "Network Key", the password that protects your network from outsiders. This "KEY" was set up when you installed the router on your server computer. If this does not work at first, turn the machine over on it's back and using a toothpick, insert it into the little hole about an inch diagonally from the right corner of the data plate, this will re-load a new copy of everything including the WiFi RT28701 driver.
sometimes this driver gets confused. See my TIP at:http://www.fixya.com/support/r7350901-fi...

    Additional Information

When I try to sign on with the red X showing, I get "The page cannot be displayed If I then double click on the icon down in the right corner I elucidated above, RT28701 opens up to "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) with all zeros in the IP address field, and Subnet Mask, with no entries in the default gateway. That is a clue to me that the automatic sign on has not found a viable network, or needs something else. If I then click on Wireless Information tab, the list of available networks, appear in the box. The machine keeps trying to associate my previous entered name site with my preferred site and tells me the signal is good, but it cannot link up. This is a signal to me that it has lost my Network Key or that the software has failed or both. I then click on advance and delete my preferred network and hit OK, this will force the software to ask me for my network again, and notice that the preferred is missing. I click on the name of my network again and then hit connect., then the Wireless Network properties window opens up and I can insert my Network Key again after I uncheck the "The key is provided automatically" box. I enter the key and hit the OK button. I still do not get a connection, so I reboot the machine, and wait for about 30 seconds and the machine synchs up because the little RED X under the icon has disappeared. Now the machine will hook to the internet as long as I want to, but sometimes when I turn the machine on it will not synch, so I go through the above sequence again. The secret is once you have entered your key and ask for the machine to synch up you have to reboot. Why? I do not exactly know, but I suspect that the WiFi driver looses it

SOURCE: On my Sylvania 7" netbook from CVS (SYNET7WID-R).

Try to open the websites using Firefox. If you are already using firefox, try to reset it to default settings and try to open the websites again. If you don't want to use firefox, try to reset whichever browser you are using to default settings and try again.

You may also try clearing cache.

SOURCE: hello, i have sylvania synet07526

If you were to log on to the manufacturer's web site, I think you will be pleasantly surprised as usually one is able to download, by model number, Customer Instruction Manuals, and a list of Dealers for spare parts, as required.

Just Google the manufacturer's name and follow the links. Make certain you are directed to the manufacturer's web site as some search engines direct you to other sites and they charge for the information that is normally free of charge.

I hope this helps.

I have a Sylvania netbook AKA SYNET07526 and I got it at a yard sale and it needs a password that i dont have so if you know how to factory reset it please help.

Hi,

I'm reading that it has a windows operating system. In this case, I would open setting and search for the "factory reset" option within that folder. Otherwise, you can just use the general desktop search to search for the "factory reset" option and choose that and follow the instructions on screen to activate the factory reset. But I would ask that you back up any data first because all data on the device will be deleted.

Thank you.

How do I get this SYNET07526 Netbook back to the way I got it when I bought it? Nothing I click on comes up or activated. Any easy, step-by-step method would appreciated.

There is a UK site:

http://www.user-guides.co.uk/download/sylvania/sylvaniasynet07526/sylvania-synet07526-manual.html

Which has a download for this. It is a CD image download which contains instructions.

My wi-fi says the connection is excellent but when i click to go onto the internet it says cannot display this page cannot find server or DNS error.

I had the same problem with my CVS Sylvania netbook model# SYNET07526 so I clicked on the 1st icon in the bottom right tray {looks like a blue compter with )) next to it which is the wifi icon}, then clicked the 3rd tab in the window that pops up which says wireless info, then clicked on the 2nd button on the bottom which says Advanced, then in the box where it says Preferred Networks I deleted everything but the network I was trying to go on. After I did that I was able to go back on the network with no problem.

Apparantly there's a flaw that "confuses the netbook" if more than 1 preferred network appears in the box on my netbook. Hopefully that solves your issue too.

I bought a Sylvania SYNET07526 in CVS and everything was working fine. Yesterday I put a password to login to then I turn it off. Today I turned on the netbook and asks me the password but do not let me...

Hello, I think you can plug in an external keyboard in one of the usb ports on the side (not the back ones) One is for an external mouse, and one for a keyboard.
If you have an external keyboard with a usb plug on it, try plugging it in and entering your password that way.
Doesn't everything bought new have warranty of some kind?-It does in the UK anyway.
Kind regards,

Bought the netbook from cvs and i cant get it to transfer from english to spanish did everything it asked me to....please help

The netbook Sylvania SYNET07526 sold by CVS only comes in english, You could find a translation of the Operating System some where on the internet and do a full upgrade of the system. However, without a lot of work, you are going to have to stick with the english version or take the netbook back to CVS for a refund. Remember that the CE system was designed in english and the nChineese that made your net book made it for the english speaking public.
