1. Hit the Menu button.
2. Go to the 'Initial Setting' option (second icon in the right column.
3. Scroll down and select 'Registration'
4. Select 'Deregistration'
After you have done this, follow the on-screen directions to deregister the handset that is bad. You must know what handset number you wish to deregister to do this.

Be certain you registered the phone properly:
On the Base, press and hold LOCATOR until the IN USE light flashes. On the handset, press OK then wait until a beep sounds.
If you registered this properly, the way to reset is to remove the batteries of the handset and leave for a period of time (at least several hours).
try to register again.
If still the same problem, I suspect that the reconditioned handset is faulty and should be returned.
