Step 1: There are a variety of reasons you may need to reboot a Lenovo laptop. These can include the installation of a new program, the dreaded blue screen of death or to free up memory that has been hijacked by a program that is now closed. There are three ways to reboot and all are simple to accomplish.
Click on your start menu button on your screen. Click on "Shut Down" or "Turn Off Computer." Click on the drop down box if you are running a version of Windows before XP (such as 2000 or 98). Select the "Restart" option and then click "OK." On XP or later versions, click on "Restart." The laptop will then reboot. Press and hold down the "Alt," "Ctrl" and "Shift" keys simultaneously. This will bring up the Task Manager. Pressing and holding the same keys again will force the computer to shut down. Press the power button to reboot the computer. This feature should be used when the mouse has stopped working and you cannot access the start button. Hold the power button in the "Off" position for approximately 5 seconds. This will force the machine to shut down. Press or slide the button again to reboot the laptop. Use this process when you get the "blue screen of death" or the computer is not responding to either the mouse or the keyboard.
If you can't shut down normally (using windows), you can press and hold the power button until the computer shuts down. You can also remove the battery.
Make sure to save you work or anything that is open before you perform a hard shut down.
beside your power button there is a small button that will have a curved arrow on it, your system must be shut down then press and hold down the button wth a curved arrow or it may say NOVO on it press and hold it down for 4-5 seconds while the ssytem is shut down the computer will power on if you press that button then it will look like it is loading windows but it will show on the screen Lenovo Rescue OneKey System then you might see the option fix files or advance if this screen comes up it means that you still have the option to get windows working again if you click advance it will give you an option of Lenovo Password Management, Lenovo Anti Virus and Lenovo Rescue System select lenovo rescue system it will give you the options restore from initial backup, restore from customer backup select restore from initial back up to restore back to factory defaults unleass you created a back up of your own ^_^
Hi guest, try to turn off the pc by using the power button. Then remove the cables and battery on the laptop. Then push & hold the power button for 5 seconds. Reinsert the cables and battery then turn on the pc.
Check if you will be able to shut down your pc using the operating system..
Hi, You will have to perform a forced shutdown on the laptop, to do this press and hold the on/off button until it goes off then power it back on again to make sure there is no damage caused. Please post back if you need anymore help.
