ViewSonic VP2030b 20.1" LCD Monitor Logo
Anonymous Posted on Sep 16, 2010

I have two Viewsonic VP2030B monitors that both died together. Possibly a resolution or scan rate problem but I need a bit of help disassembling the things. The main chassis seems to be held in place right where the stand connects to the rear plastic panel and there are no obvious screws there.

Wa7tuv, If the plastic front "bezel" is very thin and the monitor control and setting buttons are located on the verticle sides of unit, it just may be that the "bezel" will need to be parted from the rear cover, with the glass lcd panel left in the rear panel. Then you will need to remove screws so you can get lcd panel out of the rear cover. You might just get lucky and find a video of some owner/technician doing a tear-down if you search YOUTUBE using "lcd monitor disassembly" or "lcd monitor repair" as search terms. Be very careful and protect the glass lcd screen at all times. It is the most expensive part of the unit. You CRACK the glass, It's you bought it, you own it, Toyota!!!! You could also check with Viewsonic to see if they have a cash+old unit exchange program for out of warranty, but prematurely failed units that will be swapped for same model "refurbished units????? 12fixlouie

Out of range

Your windows video settings are for a monitor that has more capability (eg more pixels/finer resolution, higher refresh rate, more colour bits than the current screen can handle so it's spit the dummy.

Run your computer in safe mode (I believe that uses basic video driver) and set the video display options to a very low level, then re-start your computer again in normal mode, and set the options to the native resolution, refresh rate etc of the monitor. These should be listed in the specs that would come in the box with it (may be resolution: 1,680x1,050)

Viewsonic VP2030b LCD monitor - No power

There should be one fuse in the power supply inside. You can check and replace that if its dead. now if its not dead and you got power to that point you do need to rule out any capcitors at that time but if the fuse is gone it will not hurt to check the rest of the supply for the fault.
