Not completely sure about your B. 1004 but in my model Bernina, the feed dogs are lowered so the fabric can be moved by the operator, like when free-motion quilting. The feed dogs don't have contact with the fabric, there's no need to move.

Can't drop the feed dogs on my Bernina 1260

Could it be that the feed dog mechanism has not been oiled for a long time? I have a 930 and perform frequent all-over oiling including the feed dog mechanism (all-over refers to a couple drops of good quality sewing machine oil every place where metal rubs on metal). To get them working faster, try directing hot air from hairdryer into the internal mechanics to loosen things.

Janome 3050 feed dogs wont come back up

Dropping the Feed Dog
The feed dog can be lowered with the drop-feed lever for sewing on buttons etc.
  • Shift the drop-feed lever to the right to lower the feed dog.
  • Shift the lever to the left to raise the feed dog, it will return to the up position when the machine is started.

NOTE:The feed dog should be in the up position for regular sewing. Turn the handwheel toward you to check if the feed dog comes up after setting the lever in the up position

How can i keep the feed dogs from dropping when I sew?

Need more info. What kind of Bernina are you using? Feed dogs normally go up and down when sewing to move the fabric forward. Is that what you mean? Or have you lowered the feed dogs to do free motion quilting or darning and now they stay down?

How do you get the feed dogs in the up position

Feed dogs drop when you move the switch, they do not go up when you move switch back. Move switch to up position then turn machine 1 full rotation, voila feed dogs up. this is normal.

My machine has been in the basement for a while. Now my feed dog does not rise up high enough on my bernina patchwork 140 to catch the fabric. I did take the plate off and it is clean. Any suggestions?...

It seems strange that the feed dogs would change position while in storage. Are they moving at all?

They haven't been disenaged and lowered somehow, most machines have a switch or slide somewhere that disengages the feed dogs for freehand embroidery etc.

I hav e Bernina 1150. When I attach the walking

Hi, when you quilt straight lines using the walking foot, you need the feed dogs up, to move the fabric in a straight direction under the needle. When you do free motion quilting, which is done with a darning foot, your hands move the fabric in many different directions. Since you want to be the one to move the fabric, you put the feed dogs down and you do the work. So when you use the walking foot, keep your feed dogs up. When you use the darning foot, feed dogs down.

Bernina 1130 feed dogs won't feed fabric

On a Bernina 1130 the power on-off knob and the feed dog raise and lower knob look similar and are next to each other on the end of the machine, making it easy to lower the dog assembly entirely, without realizing it. Make sure you didn't accidentally lower the entire feed dog assembly by turning the feed dog knob: you can tell as you turn it if the dogs are up or down. On the Bernina 1130 the knob, like the power should be in the horizontal position to be working both feed and power.
