You need to replace the PCB located in the back of the refrigerator. Took me about 20 minutes after I got the part. Then you will have to program the code back into it. Costly but rather easy.
Ours started the same thing today. Called the 800- Maytag service number. They said it is a "known quality issue" with the controller and scheduled maintenace call. If gone unfixed, the controller will probably eventually fail and the frig will quit working all together. From what the lady said, this will be a free fix even though it's passed the warranty period.<!-- from fixya rte -->
there is the HV board on the back under a cover . 2 680uf capacitors @ 35v are likely domed instead of flat on the top and are likely hot. replacing these with an equal value will cure the problem. they are in parallel so 1000 and 470uf will cure it. mine was same model except white. local dealer said no warranty. did not call maytag but he indicated it might help. good luck
You will have to call Maytag at 1-800-688-9900...Motherboard is bad. You can pull out the little plate at the bottom of the water/ice dispenser, then unscrew the two screw. Pull on the bottom and the panel should come out. Unplug the white connector on the left. This will stop the flapping of the ice dispenser flap.
On left top side of door, remove cap and disconnect wire. This will turn off the control board on front of fridge and fridge will still run. Then follow this link - http://www.liny.net/MaytagIce2O.htm - click on frig picture at right and you will get step by step instructions with parts and tools you may need costing around $20.00 for a do it yourself fix.
ther first refrig id have to see for better idea of problem but hte second with the flaps open and closing is going to need a high voltage board part num(12920710)---thats the part number i get wehn i look it up with the model MFI2568AEW. dont know where you got 12002608(that to is a h.v. board. which ever itssan easy enough repair to do yourself, its mounted on the rear of refrig and comes with programming instructions in the box
Budd, if you want to stop the flapping until service shows up to replace the high voltage board do the following: remove the drip tray, remove the 2 screws under the drip tray. From the bottom, where you removed the screws, pull out and up. The whole disp cover lifts off. Unplug the 2 harness going to the board on the dispenser. The refrigerator will still operate normally minus the dispenser. Catriver.
Listen for a fan running when you open the freezer door. May have to hold the light switch closed for it to come on. If you don't hear it then the fan is most likely bad. The evavorator fan motor is the most common repair on the trio's
