Hi Everybody.
Just joined the forum now and I got my way around working the P700BT unit.
The most easiest way to connect the unit is to:
1. Pair it as usual and accept the connection when prompted by both the unit and the phone.
2. If pairing is done for the 1st time and need to transfer your contact onto the unit. You need to select the "Phone book transfer" option (will be autodisconnected but need to worry about this). Then Select all you phone's contact and send as business card via bluetooth to the unit and send. Unit should then receive the contact and update.
****Hint. To re-establish your connection (following auto-disconnect) at any given time, the quickest way to do this is to just dial any number from your mobile (prefferably you voicemail number), leave the call on and wait a couple of seconds, you will then hear the sound just coming off the speakers and the connection is re-established again - Ensure that the bluetooth "auto connect" setting of the is on for this to work. You can also use this should your phone be disconnected after receiving an SMS (SMS auto-disconnects the phone.
I managed to fix this issue with the auto disconnect using a Nokia N81 and Pioneer DEH-P7050BT.
I originally had the same issues that everyone else was facing, after trying several different things I successfully auto connect my phone when i turn on the ignition switch. It still disconnects when trying to download contacts, but i transferred these instead so not a big problem there.
OK so that steps i performed in order were.
1. Download and update the head unit software update from the Pioneer website, there is a link attached in another post. Follow the steps in the instruction manual.
2. Delete the pairing from the phone
3. Update the firmware of the phone via the Nokia Software Updater.
4. Turn off the PC Suit Sync in the phone, this can be found under settings.
5. Repaired the phone and the head unit, use the NOKIA-A option not NOKIA.
6. Authorise the phone to auto connect to this BT device without prompting.
This is all the steps I tried, some may or may not be usefull but after trying different combination's, I get a successful connection each and every time. A little icon of a car will appear on the phone stating it is connected.
I hope it works for you.
Yay! I got it working!
I can
Looks like pioneer recently released an update even though its not on the pioneer australia website. You can get it from:
http://www.pioneer.eu/eur/content/support/support/update/deh_bt_update.html
This works for the DEH-P7050BT as well, even though it doesn’t say it.
Weird how they do an update in a jpg file, but it works
Basically it adds another “group” called Nokia-A… This let’s both the headset and the car kit connect at the same time.
The contacts sync too… this worked for me before all this madness btw.
You have to click yes to transfer contacts, then the phone “disconnects”. On the phone you then go to your contacts menu, and select the contacts you want across. Then send these via bluetooth to the head unit.
Once done it didn’t really have an obvious way out of the menu, so I just turned the car off, but you can probably just press source or something.
When I turned it back on after syncing, it didn’t sync up automatically, so obviously on the phone I just told it the head unit was an authorised device.
Bingo I am happy.
I hope this helps someone else who was about to throw both the deck and the E51 out the friggen window… FYI this apparently fixes all the latest Nokia N and E series phones too.
Pioneer have posted a firmware fix on their site for this problem. Download it and transfer it first to your phone and then to your P700BT or 600BT (following the instructions) Works like a dream :)

I have the same problem with the devices being connected and in one second disconnect... but i have found a way to get around the problem... I have set my phone NOT to auto accept the p700 request to connect to my phone. I first enter the "call list" (missed, recieved and dialed numbers menu) And when my cell is promting me to iether accept i decline the p700 request i press accept and IMMEDIATELY press the call button on my phone. Here is where the magic happens, beacuse now the phone and the p700 is connected and will not disconnect untill i turn the ignition off... Wierd way of solving the problem but it works...
Sorry for the bad english ;)
I have the same problem so you are not alone.
Some tips though:
Phonebook xfer is possible, once P700bt is waiting for phonebook entries go to the directory on the N95, select mark all and then send business cards, via bluetooth, and choose the P700 as the target.
Autoconnection will not work at all (I too have tried every combination of options, and contacted both Pioneer and Nokia (predictably they blame each other and have no plans to work to resolve the issue)) Solution for me for now is to disable autoconnection on the P700BT.
Once paired for first time and phonebook transfered you can then cheat a little.
Next time you want to use them together, go through the process as if you were pairing from the begining (you may need to delete the pairing from the N95 for the P700BT but normally ok) Just set the P700BT to be waiting for a phone pairing and setup new pairing on the N95. It should connect perfectly and still associate with the phonebook data you transfered previously.
By no means perfect, but it works until I can find a proper fix somewhere or just get a new handset.
Although neither manufacturer was of any use, at least pioneer made soem vague efforts to be helpful. Nokia were unhelpful/uninterested to the point of being obtuse.
Thanks,
David

same problem with nokia e66
Same problem : E66 and Pionner 800BT
Pioneer DEH-P7050BT and Nokia N81, updated the firmware on the N81, also updated the software on the head unit, all to no avail. Connection works when pairing for the first time, but as soon as connection is lost and the head unit trys to automatically connect the Nokia connects then disconnects instantly. Very frustrating.
I also have a Blackberry 8110 and this works perfectly each and every time.
