Your HP all-in-one provides three levels for adjusting the ring and speaker volume. The ring volume is the volume of the phone rings. The speaker volume is the level of everything else, such as the dial tones, fax tones, and button press beeps. The default setting is Soft.
1 Press Setup.
2 Press 4, and then press 8.
This displays the Basic Fax Setup menu and then selects Ring and Beep Volume.
3 Press to select one of the options: Soft, Loud, or Off.
Note If you select Off, you will not hear a dial tone, fax tones, or incoming ring
tones.
4 Press OK.

When an incoming fax is arriving our fax at work is beeping very loudly, how do you turn it off.

Hello, it may be possible the the fax is in diagnostic mode or the ringer volume is turned up. 1) go to the administration tab on the control panel 2) go down to the initial setup 3) go to fax setup menu 4) go to fax receive settings 5) Check the ringer volume should be set to low (default) or to off for no sound. In the troubleshooting menu - set the fax speker mode to NORMAL (default). I hope this will assist with your problem.

When the fax is dialing it is very loud. How can I

There is a setting to adjust the fax volume. Press the User Tools button on the operation panel, and then on the touch screen press either Fax Features or Fax Settings, and then under the first tab (I think it's General Settings) there should be an option for volume adjustment. You can either turn the volume down or you can turn it all the way off.

The ring is very loud when a fax comes in, volume control where?

This needs clarification. Is it the Handset on the machine that is ringing? If so there is a small slider control on the handset that can be adjusted down with a paper clip. But if the fax itself is to loud you'llneed to go inot programming and selct the Monitor Volume and set it lower or off.

Dialing sound

Hello,

I just read through the manual for the Fax element of your printer. There is no specific setting you can address to reduce the fax noise.

The fax sounds may (and should) be coming through your Windows Sound System. As such, you can test this by taking a look at your system tray. This tray is where the digital clock is located on the bottom right of your screen display. In the tray itself should be a small speaker icon. Place your mouse over this and it will display "Volume" near your mouse pointer, now click once on this icon once. You will see a slider appear titled Volume and at the bottom is a check box title "Mute". You can either drop the volume slider down to reduce the volume (if this is being driven by the Windows Sound System) or select the "Mute" box and that will mute all Windows Sound Features until you unMute it later. Which ever you choose, remember how you accessed this so you can re-enable sounds later should you choose to listen to them for any particular reason.

You can then send a fax again as a test and then witness what affect this has. I feel this will Fix your problem. I'm happy to help and assist further. In the worst case scenario the effort will have no affect on your Fax sound. But its been my experience over the years that when a fax generates unusually loud sound, it is coming through your speakers. Let's hope this is the case.

Should you become confused, need clarification or need any further assistance please feel free to contact me by using the comment box below. I will receive an email notification from you and I will respond using the FixYa interface.

L170 Canon Fax Sound and volume control issues

Sunds as though you have the handset that came with the machine attached to it and the handset ring volume is still on. To turn that off there are 2 black inset switches on the handset itself turn those down or off.

LOUD SOUND WHEN SENDING FAX

There are 4 volume controls to access them press MENU.

You should see “MACHINE SETTING?” if not use the SET arrows to scroll through the different menus, stop when you see “MACHINE SETTING?” Now press the SET button.

Now use the up & down arrows to get to
Buzzer Volume = that the machine beeps
SET
Key volume = the tone that sounds when you press keys on the control pad
SET
Alarm volume = the alarm if something happens.
SET
Line volume = sets the level you hear at the fax is actively transferring a fax.

If you want to change any of the settings, press the up or down arrows to the level you like best and press SET if you don’t what to change that item just press SET. When you have adjusted all levels the way you want them press STOP and the levels will be remembered.

The most annoying sound to most people in the Line Volume. I have known people that like it as quiet as posable in thier work, but the problem is if you turn down the ALARM you won’t know when there is a problem. Many people like a little line volume so that they hear when they dial into a busy phone line, or if someone picks up the shared voice line.
