Dirty dishes I have a zanussi slimline dishwasher, but no matter what I do the dishes still come out gritty and sometimes food particles stuck to inside of cups and glasses, glasses have a white film over them and have to be done by hand, pointless really, I use finish tabs or persil or anything that is of good quality, and use a rinse aid and salt. What is the problem

Try putting a cup of white vinegar in the empty dishwasher & running it on fast wash. Should eliminate film; do you have hard water where you live? If so lime build up could be the problem.
Hope this helps.Cheers.

Siemans dishwasher model SE55A560GB/42. Upper rotating spray bar not turning but botton spray bar is rotating. Dishes are left with a gritty feel to them.

Check that the arm rotates freely when spun by hand, then check that the arm outlet jets at the trailing end of the arms are not blocked with food particles and other solid matter. This often happens and the arm is unable to turn because the water jet that is supposed to drive the arm does not have the force to rotate it with the result is that the upper dishes do not get enough water and chemicals. It may also cause water to continue dripping onto dried dishes after the the drying cycle has stopped.

Food particles remaining on dishes after cycle is complete.

Hi

While putting dishes in the washer and obstructing the spray ams which causes food particles to stay on dishes. After loading dishwasher and pushing in baskets ,be sure the spray arm doesnt hit any of the dishes causing them to not clean properly. If that doesnt work or is definately not your problem try removing the spray arm and seeing if it has food inside of it. Some times they get food build up in them and need to be flushed out.

However the other causes for this problem are…

Not enough water entering dishwasher (check level after fill... Should be slightly below bottom wash arm)

Water filling but draining during wash cycle. Check toward end of wash cycle but before drain. See if water level is diminished from start of wash cycle.

New 'water saver' dishwashers are notorious for having smaller water jets, and thus easier to stop-up jets. Check the jets on all wash arms to be sure they are cleared of food particles.

Another way to check the wash arms is to manually position them at specific locations, momentarily run the dishwasher for a few seconds, then open the door to inspect the location of the wash arms. Do this three or four times to eliminate the possibility of coincidence.

If the wash arms do not move from the location that you put them, the most likely cause is food particles stopping up the water jets. These jets not only clean the dishes but also the water pressure they generate turn the arms inside the dishwasher to properly distribute water pressure on the dishes.

Sometimes you can dislodge and remove food particles stuck in one of the jets with a toothpick or other small probe. Others require that you remove the arm(s) and get a little more creative. I use compressed air to clear mine, but not everyone has access to compressed air, so use whatever you can to remove the food particles.

Simply dislodging them from the water ports is usually not effective... As soon as water pressure is applied, the particles return to the jets and stop them up again. The real fix in this instance is to completely remove the food particles from the arm if you can.

Food particles are on dishes after washing

Try adding bicarb of soda/baking soda and vinegar in the detergent dispenser. Bicarb fizzes off hardened particles and vinegar strips off grease and aids rinsing.

My dishwasher leaves crumbs and food particles stuck to everything in the top rack

Usually this problem is due to the fact that the dirty particle filled water isn't fully draining and the unit is trying to rinse the dishes with fouled water thus baking any leftover food particles during the dry cycle.
Make sure that all of the water is draining from the dishwasher after all drain cycles.

Usually poor draining is due to a blockage or partial blockage in the drain line, also the blockage can be at the drain pump itself or where the drain connects to the under sink drain
