I have the same problem with a sylvania model 568. I removed the rear cover and screws holding the circuit boards. When the power is connected and video source attached I remove the larger of the two ribbon cables. The backlight then illuminates and when the ribbon cable is replaced I have video until the video source is removed. I am unable to locate a schematic to troubleshoot this. any suggestions would be appreciated.I have the same problem with a sylvania model 568. I had the same problem with a dell monitor. the problem with that one was The transistors on the back lite inverter board. I don't know if this helps or not. Just a thought.I had the same problem with a dell monitor. the problem with that one was The transistors on the back lite inverter board. I don't know if this helps or not. Just a thought.

The power light is flashing green can indicate start/restart of the power supply due to shorts circuits or failing power supply due to bad caps, look for bad caps with bulging top first, see example of failed monitors due to bad caps: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see insdie so we can guide you furhter.
The power supply in the monitor is probably broken. Take it to a repair shop or purchase a new one. LCD monitors have become very inexpensive these days.
We have a dis-assebly and repair guide posted on our web site at: www.ccl-la.com/monitor_repair.htm The problem is usually the driver transistors, our guide shows where they are and what to replace to get your monitor back running again.
I had the same problem. power led would flash green for a few minutes then the monitor might come to live. the problem was multiple bad G-LUXON capacitors on the power supply board and inverter. the monitor is full of them. just search online for bad caps and they are near the top of the list. replaced them and it came back to life.
ok, get to the event where you get this to happen "...then turn it back on the monitor does come on normally...", but just after power-up, press the F8 key to go to safe mode. If nothing visible, press ENTER anyway...get to safe mode yet?
