Possible cause:
1. AC adapter failure.
2. Power socket failure.
3. Motherboard failure.
Possible troubleshooting steps and repair solution:
1. Test the AC adapter with a voltmeter. Make sure the AC adapter outputs correct voltage. Alternatively, you can test the laptop with another known good adapter and see if it fixes the problem. Replace AC adapter if needed.
http://www.chargerbuy.com/replacement-dell-inspiron-e1705-ac-adapter-19-5v-4-62a.html

2. If the power socket inside the laptop was getting loose before the power light failure, it's possible that you have a broken power socket. It is necessary to open up the laptop an take a closer look at the power socket a.k.a. DC power jack. Replace the power socket if needed.

3. This problem could be related to the motherboard failure. If the power socket and power adapter are in good working condition, but you still have no power light, most likely you have a failed motherboard.

My laptop is not powering on help

1.Connect the Ac adapter to a known good power outlet. Check the Power LED indicator on AC adapter (without plugging into the Notebook). We are only checking the power AC adapter to see if that is working.
2.If LED on the AC adapter is not lit (when unplugged from notebook), reseat the AC adapter brick and cable. If still there is no light on AC Adapter replace AC adapter and Power cord.
3.If LED on the AC Adapter goes off only after connecting to Notebook, the issue is with the motherboard. Replace Motherboard, DC-In port (AC adapter connector).
4.If the AC Adapter LED is always ON, take a technician's help and reseat the Power Button Board. You can refer to the Service Manual for details on how to reseat the Power Button Board. (NOTE: Before the notebook chassis is opened ensure all the power connections including battery and external devices are disconnected)

My dell pa 12 won?t start ?

When i start my dell pa 12up and it takes 10 mins to load to windows XP, , when the windowsloading screen comes up the FANS go crazy. I then wait till i’m at thedesktop at which point i immediately shut down the pa 12(which takes afurther 7 mins) while the FANs are going crazy.

answer :

Now if i start the pa 12 again it works normally.

I had to do this procedure everyday, untill today when i switched the pa 12 on, waited till the desktop appaered and i removed the battery while the pa 12 was on..
17028ca.jpg
Now when i switch the pa 12 on it powers up but i’m not getting anything on the screen

First try a different AC adapter (such as :pa 10 ac adapter)

If no change then the issue is the motherboard. Often the AC adapter will fail then the battery discharges and you get the symptoms youdescribe.
SO AC adapter then MB

It shows no power on your laptop but it shows you the dvd player led comes on then off.

I would suggest try the following:

1. Remove laptop battery, optical drive, hard drive and ram. Remove external peripherals as well.

2. Make sure AC Adapter is not yet connected to the laptop. Pressand hold on the laptop’s power button for 10 seconds to drain the powerflea.

3. Connect the AC Adapter to a known good power outlet, check ACAdapter power LED if it is on. Try to sense if AC Adapter is not makinga bit of noise when it is plugin to the wall power outlet.

4. Connect now the AC Adapter (hp dv6000 ac adapter)tothe laptop. Check if AC Adapter LED stays on when it is connected tothe laptop. If the LED stays on means the AC Adapter is fine. If the ACAdapter LED turned off check the AC Adapter pin that goes to the laptopAC socket if it is loose.

5. If laptop AC Adapter stays on after connecting to the laptop try topower on laptop. If no power LED comes on then this is motherboardproblem.

6. Before replacing the motherboard there is one checking needs todo. If you can open your laptop bottom part then good, do this whenlaptop is not connected to any power source. Try to reseat the laptopCMOS battery then try to power on laptop after, if still fails thenreplace motherboard. I hope this helps.

My lapyop automatically switched off when battery got drained .When I tried to restart it ,it is not functioning..There is no light signal and no response for button pressing......

It appears that the AC adapter is not powering the system. If you know anyone with a later model Dell, the AC adapters are inter-changable (If the plug fits, you can use it) If the system powers on, the you need a new (Dell Branded) ac adapter as non-Dell adapters will not charge the battery.
If the DC in jack of the chassis is loose or the LED on the AC adapter goes out when plugged in to the system, then you may have a bad motherboard.

I have no led light on my e1705 when i press it and nothing comes on

Things to check:
1. AC adapter cord, esp close to the brick. Does the green light come on the brick? If not, replace the adapter.
2. Reseat battery. Check the battery charge by depressing the battery indicator button on the battery. Does it have a good charge? If so, then it could be the connection to the mother board causing the issue. If not, then replace the battery.
3. If both the battery is good and the AC adapter is good then you are looking at a mother board issue.

Dell inspiron e1705 did factory restore then screen went black now what do i do?

Since you did factory install, Might probably that's the recovery partition you used, Try to restart computer, if does not work, turn it off, unplug ac adapter and battery then drain residual power of laptop by pressing the power button for 5 secs, then put the ac adapter and battery again. If it still doesn't work, try to run diagnostics first if it fails then you'll need to replace a part, if it passes then you'll need to do operating system re-installation manually.

Hi,
Verify the AC power adapter displays a solid green or blue light. Older Latitude™ C Series laptop computer AC adapters may not have a light.
Run the diagnostics on the system as follows , connect both the battery and the Ac adapter before running the diagnostics

  1. Ensure the system is powered off.
  2. Remove all external peripherals.
  3. Press and hold the <Fn> key on the keyboard.
  4. Continue to hold the <Fn> key while pressing the power button.
  5. Release both buttons.
  6. Note which lock LEDs are lit (lock LEDS are next to the power button)
And proceed with the troubleshooting steps listed below

I have a dell inspiron 1520 that is 15 months old doesn't go on

Generally, if the AC adapter for the system's LED goes out when connected to the system, check the battery and see if it is holding a a charge (Press the button next to the LEDs on the battery see if all 5 light up)  If the battery still has power, then most likely there is a failure of the motherboard.
If you can, try another Dell D-series AC adapter and see if the same thing occurs.  If the system powers on, replace the AC adapter, if not it is a motherboard.

My dell d600 wont come on even when i put the charger on

If the system shows no power indication when trying to power on or if you get only a momentary flash of the Power LED, then it goes off, the first point to check is the AC Adapter. If possible, try a known good adapter from another D-Series Dell. Check the LED on the AC adapter to see if it is ON before connecting it to the system. If it is and it goes out when you plug it to the system.

If the LED goes out and no other adapter is available, then I'd start with a new AC Adapter. (If you have no known good adapter available, you might try taking it to best buy and see if they can connect the system to a known good there to see if it powers on).

If replacing the AC Adapter does not resolve your issue, the motherboard is the next component to replace.

Charger for E1705 beeps and no green light

If, when not plugged into the system, only the wall, the AC adapter LED doesn't come on and the adapter beeps, then it has failed and will require replecement. If the computer is still under warranty, the adapter is covered under the warranty.

If not covered under warranty, then buy a new AC adapter.

If the LED comes on when not plugged into the system, but goes out when connected to the portable, then the motherboard may be bad.
