Clean the yellow toner contacts in the printer, if this doesn't work replace the yellow toner. It's a high voltage problem which is normally caused by a defective cartridge.

It is not possible to print while an empty cartridge is in the printer. Try shaking the yellow cartridge and try printing again. There may be enough toner left for a few more pages.
Most likely the yellow drum unit is causing that problem. The charge roller gets worn and makes whatever color it is in print out all the time. That would require replacing the yellow imaging unit.
Does the dirty background get lighter as you print additional pages?
Have you tried a new cartridge yet?
Unless your toner cartridge is leaking toner (you?ll see toner on the inside of the printer or leaking out if you remove the cartridge and shake) a simple cleaning is probably not the answer. Let me know and we'll pick up later.
