Horizontal lines running through pictures.....Z612.

I have owned my Kodak EasyShare Z612 for around 14 months now. It's worked great up until last week when I noticed that the pictures started to show horizontal lines through them. I tried resetting the camera, but it's still doing the same thing.

Any ideas?

    I am getting 1 of 3 problems...

Horizontal lines through the picture... most noticeable on indoor pictures

On outdoor pictures the picture is washed out

Before snapping the picture all looks ok in the preview screen. It is only after the picture is taken that you see the problem.

I had one long exposure night time picture that looked fine in the screen right after the picture was taken but when I when to review the picture you could not even tell what it was...

This is an example of the lines...

I have the same issue with mine. It intermittently has the lines and it would vanish sometimes after recharging. Has anyone tried a new battery/power source to see if that will resolve the issue. Thanks.

  • tbredding Jan 19, 2009

I've had my camera for about 2 years and, up until 6 months ago, all was fine. Every time I try to take an outdoor photo, or a photo in some type of mid to bright light, I get lines thru the photo or it is almost completely washed out. Crazy thing is that when I use the video in the same type of lighting, the video comes out fine. What's wrong with this. Is it truly just a **** camera? I loved it before this happened. Help!

I have my z612 over 2 yrs and now when I take pictures it has horizontal lines or its too bright. I tried everything resetting, and changing the pic quality but the lines won't go away. When I take video the quality is still good so I don't know if its the lens or the settings. Please help me how to fix this problem. Thanks

I've had sinilar problems with mine. I bought it in November of 2006 and sent it back to Kodak (under warranty) 3x before they finally agreed to replace it (with a refurbed unit). Well, that was in June of 2007 and the problem is now baaaack with the reoplacement camera (same model)... I'm requesting Kodak replace it with another model, but I'm "out of warranty" and they want me to pay them $145 to repair (which they've never been able to fix for me). So I am requesting them to replace with a different model.

As a follow-up to my Solution #2 ... Kodak is replacing my Z612 with a Z712. Several days worth of calls to the call center (in the Philippines) and numerous conversations with supervisors and the "Assistance Team" before they agreed to replace the camera. They had previously offered me a "service upgrade" discount of 25% for a Kodak.com purchase of new and/or accessories, but that's about 20% more than I would pay in the open market.

This camera is almost three years old (purchased 11/2006) and this camera had been replaced with a remanufactured unit in June of 2007, so be persistent with Kodak and they will try to accommodate you.

I just got my camera back from a repair shop, and I had the same problem. It's lens shutter damage. My camera was dropped while on vacation and suddenly got horizontal lines through every pic.

Unfortunately, the shop could not repair this and suggested I send it in to Kodak. Good luck

What causes horizontal black and orange lines in your pictures

I had the same problem, sent it to Zacks Camera Repair in RI, and he said (not sure if I remember exactly) the cvd chip was gone, and that it would cost as much as the camera is worth to repair it ($225). He told me to not buy a Kodak next time....but I loved that camera for 4 years!!!!
