If you still have your owner's manual, you will need to call the manufacturer. They will need the model # & serial #. This particular brand has a fine mesh filter screen on the bottom (below the burner) that gets clogged and causes irregular pilot outages. They have a recall in which they will send you a new burner assembly with a reset switch built-in to it. They will send it to you for free, but you will need to hire your local gas co (at your expense) to install it and also clean the filter while they have the burner assembly out. Good luck. Douglas
Most likely an indication that the thermocouple has gone bad. Not unusual. The thermocouple is the short brass rod that sits in or close to the pilot light when it is lit. The heat from the pilot light will cause the thermocouple to activate and keep gas flowing to the pilot light. When the thermocouple goes bad the gas will not flow and the pilot light will not stay lit. First, be sure you are following the proper procedure to light the pilot light, resetting the valve and holding it down until the pilot light burns for about 20-30 seconds before turning the gas on. If you are going through the correct lighting procedure and the pilot light will not stay on, the next logical thing is to replace the thermocouple.
If the pilot flame is weak, when the main burner is ignited, there can be enough 'whoosh' of air and gas to blow out the pilot. There may be a little of grit in the pilot valve jet hole restricting the flow, hence the weak flame. Try using a piece of fine wire to clear the obstruction. If that does not help the pilot jet will have to be unscrewed and cleaned with compressed air. Ensure the gas is turned off before attempting any maintenance.
