I have a Snapper Yard Cruiser with a Kohler 15 hp OHV engine. Family no.SKH426U1G2RB; model cv15s; spec.no.41570. I bought this mower new and started having fuel troubles after about a year. My dealer rebuilt the carburetor but I started having the same trouble after a few weeks. I took my mower to another snapper dealer and they replaced the carburetor along with a lower engine gasket which started leaking oil because of the gas which kept leaking into the oil past the piston rings. Now my engine has developed the same troubles, plus this morning I see that I have a mix of oil and gas on my garage floor under my mower and no oil showing on the dipstick. I got a little ahead of myself. The trouble with my engine started with backfires then the engine wouldn't turn over because the cylinder filled with gas and I had to turn the flywheel or pull the sparkplug to get the gas out the cylinder to relive the pressure on the valves. Then when the engine did start it blew raw gas out of the exhaust. My question to you is what I can do to take care of the problem as I don't trust the carburetors for this engine. I can't believe I am the only one to experience this problem. Has Kohler ever had a recall due to this problem? Now with the oil on the floor would it be cheaper to get a new engine than to have this one repaired? The last time I had the carburetor and gasket replaced my bill was almost $500. Thank you for your time. Joe

I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. As soon as you shut the mower off, lift up the seat and turn the gas shut off to the closed position. Do this even if you are only going to be off the mower a few minutes. When you need the mower started again, open the gas shut off and start the mower.

My snapper yard cruiser Lou runs drives turns left right but when I pull the PTO switch the blades will not engage it's a snapper z yard cruiser with kohler engine

There are limit and safety switches in the wiring circuit. When it registers a back-up it disables the blades or turns the engine off. Find the backing switch and try to temporary bypass it

Need help with KOHLER COMMAND 15.5 hp (model no.cv15s)

Are you sure the anti fire solinod in the bottom of the float bowl is working as this will shut the fuel off to the main jet, remove it, now switch the ignition on, the needle should retract fully into the housing, failing that there has to be some dirt in the jets, perhaps you could get the carb sonic cleaned this should help to unclog any jet orafices

I cannot disengage the cutting attachment so that the mower will start; it seems like it is stuck, because when I attempt to disengage the blades the lever will not move into the disengaged position. How...

You haven't specified the model number, but pretty much all riding mowers use a plunger-type electrical switch to engage the mower. If it's stuck in the 'lifted' position (mower engaged) then it has broken internally. You must replace it. In doing that, the wires need to be placed back on the correct terminals, so take a picture of the wires (showing their colors) before you disconnect them from the switch. Take the broken switch to a lawnmower shop to find a replacement. Shouldn't be more than $10 - $20. Good luck! Please rate my solution if you found it helpful.
