SOURCE: belkin wireless router

Hi,

Your Belkin router is normally configured to get a dynamic IP Add from your Internet provider unless otherwise configured. Most ISP's network where clients/subscribers connect (through DSL) has a DHCP server that hands out this IP adds. If your router keeps on changing its WAN IP add, it may presumably be because:
1. Your router keeps on rebooting or powering on/off and everytime it turns on, it is given a new IP add;
2. Your ISP's DHCP server keeps on renewing its lease on the IP add given to your router.

Corrective measures would entail:
a. Do a full hard reset of your router and go through the installation setup again. Of course this would revert all settings/configuration to factory default; and/or
b. Contact your ISP and explain your concern.

In some cases, the router's MAC address has an issue that the ISP's DHCP is keeping a hard time recognizing it. this can be corrected with a firmware update.

Hope this be of help/idea. Pls post back how things tunrs up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kin regards.

SOURCE: lost password into router need reset

Use the reset button near where the AC adapter plugs in. Hold it in for at least ten seconds. This should set it back to factory, allowing you to set another password.

SOURCE: am from uae,,i brought a n1 belkin wireless router

Do this:
Shutdown your PC. Unplug the power from the router and the cable modem.
Wait 30 sec. then plug in the power to the cable modem, wait 30 sec. then plug the power to the router. Wait till you have "Internet" light then restart your PC. The PC should pick up an IP address and you should be able to get on-line. This is if you have a cable service provider. If you have DSL, the router needs to be configured with PPOe.

Here is the user guide, setup is on page 14:

SOURCE: Part # F5D8233-4 belkin wirless router need software cd

You don't need the cd. It has a connection wizard that helps set it up but you don't need to use that. You need to go to the belkin website and download the manual. That was also on the cd that's missing. Used to be a paper one in the box.

http://cache-www.belkin.com/support/dl/f5d8233-4_v1_manual.pdf

That will tell you how to get setup. For the most part routers run as is right out of the box. You will want to setup the wifi so you will need a SSID name to call it and then turn on the security. WEP or WPA are the usual suspects. Pick a 5 or 10 alphanumeric key. Turn on the wifi. Then you may need to enable dhcp so your computers will get ip numbers from the the router. Most of that is enabled by default on most routers. Wifi usually isn't as it requires more information.

Are you trying to install the router.
You can do it manually without the CD.
MAke sure that your computer is able to go online through the modem.
If your computer is able to go online through the modem
Then you need to connect the computer to the router ad the modem to the router.
open the set up page of the router and change the settings of the router according to the ISP.

Is my Belkin F5D9630-4Av1 router compatible with windows 7 64bit. Wifi connections problems with my new lenovog560 laptop

Whatever Operating System you install on your computer will not matter it doesnt effect your connection at all. It has to do with what type of computer you are using and if the hardware in the computer is compatible with your belkin router. Your belkin router must not like the wifi card that is in the lenovog560 that is why you are having connection problems with that.

I need help setting up my Belkin wireless G Router

Use a computer that is hard-wired (connected with an ethernet cable) to your Belkin router for this process:

1) Open Internet Explorer (or your favorite browser)

2) In the Address bar (where it says "http://www.fixya . . . " right now), delete the address that's there and type in these numbers: 192.168.2.1

3) Press the "Enter" key on your keyboard. This should open a Belkin router page. If it does NOT open a Belkin router page, follow steps 4 - 8 below. If it DOES open a Belkin router page, skip to step 9.

- - 4) Click "start" and then click "run." (On Vista, click "start")

- - 5) Type "CMD" (without the quotes) into the RUN window. (On Vista, type CMD where it says "start search.") Press the Enter key on your keyboard.

- - 6) You should now have a window open with a black background. Type "ping -r 1 www.yahoo.com" (without the quotes) and press the Enter key on your keyboard.

You will get a readout that looks something like this:

Reply from 66.94.230.43: bytes=32 time=294ms TTL=56
Route: 192.168.1.254

The number after the word "Route" is the address of your Belkin router. Write this number down.

- - 7) Close all open windows and open up Internet Explorer (or your favorite browser) again.

- - 8) Type in the address of your router.

9) On most Belkin routers, there is a section in the menu on the left that says "Wireless." Under this section is a link to "Security." Click that link, and you will see the wireless code you need to connect your laptop.

On some routers the "wireless" and "security" menus are in a different location, perhaps at the top of the page instead of on the left.

Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance.
