Why and how does my fitbit flex go into "sleep mode?"

You can enter or leave the "Sleep mode" by tapping the Flex rapidly for 1-2 seconds. You'll feel a vibration and the LEDs will blink. (The blinks will depend on if you are entering or leaving sleep mode.) In this mode, the Fitbit Flex reduces the LED intensity and doesn't give alerts. Afterwards, it will provide some data about your sleep pattern - length, movement, waking up during the night. This can help you determine the quality of your sleep. (Note: it isn't a replacement for consulting a doctor if you always wake up tired.)

I hope this helps.

Cindy Wells
(You can manually enter your sleep and wake times into the app without using "Sleep mode". Then the app will use the movement data from the Flex to determine sleep quality. However, LED lights (primarily blue frequencies) are known to reduce sleep quality so dimming them helps most people sleep better. The alerts will also interrupt your sleep and reduce the quality.)

I am unable to access the internet from sleep mode Can only get on internet from shut down mode

Three possible causes of sleep mode. first, an extensive screensaver with password lock prevents display. A condition that is observable as a blankscreen also known as sleep mode. Curious - What is the moon shaped key all about

this button puts the computer into sleep mode.

FROM WIKIPEDIA-

Sleep mode can go by many different names, including Stand By (Microsoft Windows 95-Server 2003), Sleep (Mac OS 8)-(Mac OS X) / (Windows Vista,Windows Server 2008), and Suspend (Linux). When placed in this Sleep mode, aside from the RAM which is required to restore the machine's state, the computer attempts to cut power to all unneeded parts of the machine. Because of the large power savings, most laptops automatically enter this mode when the computer is running on batteries and the lid is closed.
Though Sleep and Hibernate are generally thought as two separate functions, modern Macintoshes, Windows Vista (termed Hybrid Sleep), and some specially configured Linux machines also feature a variation of Sleep mode that incorporates the strengths of Hibernate. The RAM is copied to the hard drive before sleep mode is initiated, preserving the RAM contents in the event of a power loss.
ACPI is the current standard for power management, superseding APM and providing the backbone for sleep and hibernation on modern computers. Sleep mode corresponds to ACPI mode S3. When a non-ACPI device is plugged in, Windows will sometimes disable stand-by functionality for the whole operating system. Without ACPI functionality, as seen on older hardware, sleep mode is usually restricted to turning off the monitor and spinning down the hard drive.

UNABLE TO REMOVE SLEEP MODE

you can't take it off of sleep mode. the only thing you can do is set it to go into sleep mode anywhere between 0 to 99 minutes. you do that by pressing "menu, 1, and 8." there, you can input how long you want sleep mode. no way of completely disabling. i'm thinking that somehow, it must have gotten set to 0 minutes.
