Should be able to use the remote to access the VCR menu, and setup the auto programming. If not automatically, then you'll have to do each channel manually. Just check all your options in the menu.
Usually all vcr's have the option of channel 3 or 4.
hopefully you have a menu button on your TV, if so you should be able to access auto program (you might have to search to find the auto search)but before you auto program make sure you set your TV to a cable setting then auto program. If you do not have a menu button on the TV, you could also try buying a universal remote. If you don't want to do that you could always use a VCR, just set your TV on channel 3 and do a auto program on the VCR ,using the VCR remote you should be able to tune in the channels your missing through the VCR.
With cable input connected to "RF in"on rear of unit make sure vidoe input is set to "Tuner". This will show up on the TV screen. Change channels numerically or using up/down arrow keys on DVR remote. Note there is a slight pause between changing channels. You probably will have to "autoscan" for channel setup/etc. If you say your TV set is old; it probabaly is equiped with coax
connection only/set TV channel to "3" or "4". when yot opt to play vcr/dvd it will override your
cable channel selected. Hope this helps!
For this type of problem you will need to call the RCA customer support at this telephone number 1-800-645-4994. Give them the model number of your remote control and ask them for assistance with your problem. Thank you for using FixYa and have a nice day!
Turn on your TV, hold down tv or vcr/dvd depending on what you want to program. Then enter the codes this site gives you. http://remotefinder.rca.com/default.aspx?site=rca. Then release tv or vcr/dvd and see if your remote will change the channels.
Initially, pls confirm if below is how it is wired using a coaxial cable and not 3cable RCA to RCA:
Charter Digital Cable > DVD/VCR > TV
If yes and your concern is snowy or no signal on the TV screen, might it be that you have to power OFF the DVD/VCR when selecting channels on the TV itself (including when channel setup is being done).
Alternately, you can tune the TV to channel 3 and let the DVD/VCR do the channel selections.
Pls post back results. Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.
in side the mother board(kit) there should be vertical IC gone. check the vertical section for the IC number and replace it , this will solve ur problem
Same problem...Went to Goodwill Store, they usually have a large basket of remotes. I found a Daewoo remote for a TV only, HOWEVER on the bottom it has a AIR/CABLE button. The remote doesn't say Daewoo on it only..."Remote Controller R-25B03". The rest of the button of course work with the TV portion of the DVN-14F6N.
