I have a belkin F6D4230-4 router. I have an ISA 2006 Server/ Firewall connected directly to the DSL modem. The Belkin is connected to my network through a switch. I am able to connect to my network servers from my laptop but not able to surf the internet. Can this router be configured to allow my laptop to surf the net or does this router have to physically be connected to the DSL modem.

I need help with belkin n150 model F7D1401 V1 ..i can't connect to my network..i have a Huawei SmartAx Mt 882 modem..and i want to connect my network, wich is an ADSL one, to my computer..I can't...

Your MT 882 modem most likely has a DHCP Server that will interfere with the ip address of the router. Did you plug the Router directly into the laptop then go to dos prompt and type in ipconfig/renew . Or reboot the laptop !
Then type in 192.168.2.1 into browser
You need to work out the IP address of your 882 modem and then change the dhcp server leases on it to start at 20 like it might be 10.0.0.1 to 1.0.0.254 or it could be 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.254 .
if you are planning on using both devices on the network !
Make the Modem DHCP start at 192.168.2.20 to 192.168.2.254 and then make the Belkin router / modem ip address be 192.168.2.2 and the 882 modem 192.168.2.1 if you plan on using the two devices together on the network disable the belkin dchp server.
if you are using just the belkin then the reboot or ipconfig/ renew will be all you need .

Belkin 54g Router won't connect to internet.

If you can access the configuration page of your belkin router you have to copy the MAC address of your computer to the router. The router has the capability to clone the MAC address. It's because if you have a cable internet connection the MAC address is registered in the server.

I need to turn off NAT translation on Belkin F5D7234-4 is there a way to do it without shutting off the firewall? jOHN

NAT translation makes it possible for more than one computer to "share" your Internet connection.

So, if you only have one computer, and that computer is not using a "wireless" connection, you can physically remove the router from your network., i.e., connect the DSL-modem or cable-modem directly to the Ethernet port on your computer.

Note that both Mac OS X and Windows XP/Vista/7 have a "built-in" firewall, which is enabled, and which functions just as well as the firewall "inside" the router. So, removing the router from your network does not make you any less "secure".

Belkin F5D8236-4 Wireless Router will not connect to pannaway dsl modem with same settings as router I am replacing. Dynamic IP address setup. Modem light continously blinks orange. No internet light.

    1) With direct connect with modem, check the IP address and default gateway.
(I came across such a modem, it gave default gateway as 192.168.1.254)
I also had the doubt of configuring as a dynamic connection
    But it won't work!
Contact your ISP to completely bridge the modem and configure the dsl modem as PPPoE connection with correct username and password.
Finally connect the modem to router and do a complete network power cycle, i.e.: Unplug power from router 1st, then power from modem, unplug the telephone line and now do the exact reverse process... Plug back the tel. cable, then power to modem... now WAIT for lights on modem to come back, then plug in the power to router. This will surely work.

Need assistance on seting up a belkin router

Connect network cable from your current DSL modem to the WAN port (or internet port) on the back of the wireless router. It should detect the connection automatically.
If not, then try running the CD software that came with the device. It should setup everything correctly.

Problem with connection to router and DSL

I would go to run and type in cmd. then type in ipconfig, I believe that is right for windows 98. I would look on there and see if that is getting a correct IP and if the DNS server says 192.168.0.1 if it is a belkin router. ipconfig /? will give you the commands you can use with that. There is a ipconfig /renew that will refresh them all. You might have it set to be a static IP and you would want it to be dynamic and have it refresh by itself. You can go to http://hippo.colorado.edu/info/ipsetup/staticip_setup.cgi?os=win98 for directions to change it to dynamic, I would just do the opposite of what they suggest to make it auto config. It sounds like it is looking for a previous DNS server which is not there anymore because the DSL connection reset.
