I have been given a 2001 Mitsubishi giant projection T V. It has HD 1080 Series on the front. The previous owner bought a new TV when this one would not stay ON. If you push the remote or the on/off button, the TV turns on for about 2 or three seconds then turns itself off. He said when he moved it to the garage it began working fine, but when I moved it to my home it does that same thing and won't stay on long enough to even get a picture or sound.

I don't know of illustrated instructions but I can provide you with the service manual for your TV. It does have illustrations of disassembly and components as well as schematics. Your set very likely needs new convergence IC chips. This is a common problem with all projection TVs. The repair is not expensive ($60-75 in parts) but does involve unsoldering and removing the old chips and soldering in new ones. Some times there are some fuses that need to be replaced as well. If you want the manual provide me with an email address.
just visit www.mitsubishi-tv.com and look for the support site on the top page and click for product documents, the exact model starts with
WD, WS, or WT sometimes VS and its located at the back
try holding in the menu and input/device buttons on the front of the set both together and see if it blinks a series of blinks, pause briefly then blinks a second series of blinks, let me know what the blinks were sush as 22 or 24
most likely the convergence Ics have failed. Check F9a04 and F9A05 pico fuses if they are blown you will need to replace them and the convergence Ics.They are located on the center board they are green and look like resistors without the color band. see the photo
