My treadmill motor starts exactly for a second and stops. Checked the motor brush it is fine and tried switching the power cables on the controller board, motor runs to high speed with direct current (which means motor is fine), it simply starts and stops (jst one second) when it recieves power from the controller. I guess the controller pcb has a problem. my wife was complaining that the machine was slowing down by itself untill one fine morning it completely stopped

The CT-7.1 is the exact same treadmill as the Horizon T-202.
Treadmills use brushed DC motors. It is possible that the brushes are worn out. You may be able to purchase new brushes on-line. You can source them by searching for replacement parts for either of the above two makes and models.
It is also possible that some circuitry on the control board has been damaged or even something as simple as a sensor switch has failed.
Use your multi meter check continuity on motor leads if you get about 1 to 1.5 ohms if not leads may have open. You may also need to do calibration if the above check a ok.
open motor shroud and inspect all connection on the motor control board see if all LED 's are lit except that light up when incline motor is moving up or down. then check the two connector coming from the drive motor to the board sometime over time the two connector will have a cold soldier I would move them to see any excessive movements of the pins then hit start and see if there is any belt movement. Last but not least unplug unit and check the motor brushes if they are less than 3/8 in in length replace them. Call them @ 1-800-335-4348 they under their parent corp. Johnson fitness.
I had the same problem. I even ordered a $300 controller board. The new
board didn't work either. That's when I started checking voltages from
the control board to the motor. That was good. Lastly I checked the
brushes. Almost nothing left. . . The motor started working again after
I put everything back together. I need to order new brushes and return
that contoller board.
