Unknown format I bought a 4Gb SD card and my camera will not recognise it. What is the maximum size SD card it can take? NB it is not a SD HC card but a regular SD card.Do I need to format it as FAT or FAT 32? It would be great to be able to use it with my camera.

This camera originally shipped with a 16MB SD card, so it could be that the the card is too large for the camera to recognize. Try to format the card from the camera's menu options. If the camera cannot format the card itself, then this is probably the case. The owners manual for this model doesnt say what the largest allowable size is. If you have spare SD cards or know someone that does, then you should be able to determine the largest card that the camera can handle. Steve's Digicams website shows this camera working with a 256MB card.

I have a Kodak Z740 dig camera. Ive just bought a 4gb dane-elec sd HC chip but when I get the screen format I klick continue but the session stops. Any ideas or is the HC chip not compatible with this...

According to the manual the Z740 uses SD and MMC cards. That means that SDHC cards such as your 4GB card will not work with this camera. You are limited to SD cards up to 2GB in size.

Have a Kodak EasyShare C743, bought a SanDisk, won't format

Your camera was designed before the SDHC format came out. Sorry, your camera can only use standard SD cards, those usually 2GB or less. An SDHC card will not be recognized properly by your camera. If you really want to use a 4GB card, do a Google search for SD and "non hc", with the non hc in quotes. Believe that Transcend makes one.

Just put in new san disk 4gb memory card and receiving error message - memory card error. I unlocked memory on card itself (that little gray sliver that goes up and down) What gives

I'm guessing you bought a new 4GB SDHC card. Although it looks exactly the same as a standard SD card, the format the card uses is very different. Unfortunately your camera was designed before the SDHC format came out. Sorry, but a SDHC card will not work with your camera.

You'll need to use standard SD cards (usually those 2GB or less). But if you really want to use a 4GB card, do a Google search for 4GB SD "non HC", with the non HC in quotes. Believe Transcend makes one.

Hi,just bought a 4gb sd card for my digimax s600 but it won,t work.when i switch on camera, screen says..format..yes.confirm ok.when i do this i get check sd card . i put in old card it works fine??..

Does your camera support SD HC? Anything above a 2gb SD card is concider a HC; so if your camera can't support HC format then you can not use that card.

Memory card not recognised

I think that because it is SD HC, You wont be able to use it. This is caused because your camera is old, and the card reader on your camera is not SD HC.
