I have a F6 error on my Kitchenaid microwave, model number KHMS155LSS. I unplugged it for 5 minutes. Nothing changed. I closed the circuit breaker for 5 minutes. Nothing changed. If I plug it in, it sounds like it's cooking, but nothing is happening and I cannot press any keypad buttons. If I open the door, and put my hand on the glass turntable, it's hot. Is this microwave "toast"?

F6 on these models means that the cook relay on the control circuit board is shorted, and it is cooking anytime the door is closed.

We regularly repair such control units for customers nationwide by mail for $39.95 postpaid with a one-year guarantee.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

If you prefer, you can buy a new circuit board (part number 8169733 for $150.27) from the Pros
here.

They're our favorite supplier.

Oven stsarts by itself and after about a minute desplays an F2 error random problem has ocurred about 3 times, seems to have started after boiling items on stove under microwave

"F2" means you have a shorting membrane keypad. If and when an oven is coming on or doing anything by itself, this is very dangerous and can result in a fire.

So until it is repaired, please leave it unplugged or leave the door open when it's not in use, and of course one should never leave a microwave unattended while cooking.

On KHMS155LS-series models, the membrane keypad is not available as a separate part, so you would have to order the "control panel frame assembly" which comes with a new keypad.

In this case, you simply move your circuit board into the new frame. That is a simple do-it-yourself job.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number from the tag on the oven here.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

Then you unplug the keypad (as per the photo below) and move the circuit board into your frame.

How to resolve the F6 E0 error code on the built-in Kitchenaid microwave oven? The unit was brand new and installed 2 and half years ago in my new house. One website mentions the description for this...

"F6" on a Whirlpool microwave means you have a shorted cook relay on your control board, which I can repair. Details here.

FixYa doesn't notify me when there's a response, so if you have other questions, please contact me directly.

Microwave stopped working with no warning. They had a recall on this model and since they ordered two parts it has not worked right

Just had my Kitchen Aid Microwave KHMS155LSS burn up and bellow smoke.

Thankfully, I was close by, stopped the microwave, vented the smoke, turned off the circuit breaker and unplugged it. Still the smell of burned motor, burned plastic has me concerned. Did it get hot enough to cause problems behind the drywall? So far, I am keeping a "fire watch" to make sure nothing is smoldering.

Kitchenaid microwave model KHMS155L, starts randomly for 3 minutes with "PAN" flashing on display screen, than locks up with "F-2" message on display screen

Whirlpool is conducting a safety recall on the Kitchenaid KHMS155L series (and similar models under other brand names) that display the F2 code or have been observed self-starting. Other symptoms may be additional codes or unintelligible info being displayed, and failure to execute the command entered into the control pad. To obtain free replacement of the control panel, call Ava at Whirlpool: 1-866-640-7146, extension 6337. She will want your complete model and serial numbers and a phone number and address where you can be reached. She will arrange for A & E Factory Service to contact you to set up an appointment to come out and replace the control panel at no cost to you.

Next, disconnect the strip as shown in the photo below, then remove the screws that hold your circuit board in the old frame.

Then carefully (since the display is made of glass) move your circuit board to the new frame, and reassembly is the reverse of disassembly.

The part number to order is W10306627 (formerly 8205018) and you can get it here for $107.05 plus shipping.
