The F-- indicates that the camera is not communicating with the lens. There are several possible reasons for this.

  • The lens simply lacks the electronics to communicate with the camera. Old Nikon lenses don't have the electronic circuitry for this.
  • The contacts aren't making contact. Try cleaning the contacts on the back of the lens and in the mount on the body. Also try jiggling the lens once it's mounted.
  • Either the lens or the camera (or both) are malfunctioning. Try a different lens on the camera if you can. Try the lens on a different camera if you can. It is possible that one or the other needs service.

Overnight my Echo began flashing a white light. I do not know what it means nor can I get it to stop.

Sometimes it means the camera is on (I didn't know it had a camera either...curious to know what it's for!) and sometimes it means you're adjusting the volume.

I have a hand symble on my Protax camera screen what does this mean?

This will happen in low light conditions. It means you should hold the camera very steady when taking a photo, as the camera will be using a long exposure, meaning the photo will blur if the camera is not held very still, or if something moves while taking the photo.

My on screen view is showing a hand held up with a red slash across it

Hello,

On my Kodak camera, it means the camera was not steady when the picture was taken, so the picture could be blurred.

Hope this helps

After removing windows xp for windows 7, camera stopped working

If by camera you mean webcam on laptop, then you may be missing driver, or certain piece of software to make it run. If you mean an external camera, and by stopped working you mean it will not import automatically then there may be a driver issue with camera. Installing any software that came with camera should help solve this. More specifics on what you mean by "camera" and "stopped working" would help

My camera says no file exists what does that mean

You'll hate me for saying this.

In camera-speak, a file is either a picture or a video.
If "my camera says no file exists" that's exactly what it means.
It means there are no pictures nor videos the camera can display/playback.

Is that a problem?
It is a problem if you took a bunch of pictures and videos, and when you try to see them you get that message.

Otherwise, it means the memory or memory card is empty. No problem.

For most or all cameras does red mean record and green just mean on

Red can mean one of two things:

1) The camera is recording either audio or video

2) The camera's battery is low

Green usually mean the camera's battery is charged.
