Where is the HDD located? - Toshiba Satellite 1135-S1553 Notebook

Start your computer and press F8 key.


Select safe mode to start your computer in safe mode.


Navigate to the Windows temporary folder. The default location of this folder is C:/Windows/Temp, C:/DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS/ProfileName/LOCAL SETTINGS/Temp, or C:/Users/ProfileName/AppData/Local/Temp, although it could have been set to another location entirely. In all cases, it can be located by typing "cd %temp%" into the command line.

Delete the following files. dfrgr dfrg WindowsUpdate.exe tmp2.tmp

While still in the temp directory, look for three files that have seemingly random file names (With no extension), (with .exe extension) & (With .dll extension).Delete all three of these.


Remove registry entries associated with the virus. Type "regedit" from the command line to start the windows registry editor. Navigate to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run, and delete two entries involving the same random characters found in the previous step.
Remove "Smart HDD," "Smart HDD.lnk," and "Uninstall Smart HDD.lnk" from the start menu. Then delete "Smart HDD.lnk" from the desktop.
Reboot the computer in regular mode. The virus should be removed.

On your system, your HDD is located in My Computer, then Local disk.
If your trying to locate the HDD itself, you need to turn your Toshiba laptop upside down, and there is a square panel held in by 1 screw. The HDD is located under the panel.

Points to Note When Replacing the HDD
1. Take care to avoid damage by static charge.
2. Keep the HDD unit from impact.


1) Remove the rear upper cover and the
reader rear cover.
2) Remove the three screws , and detach
the cover.
3) Remove the two screws , and disconnect
the two connectors ; then, remove
the HDD unit.
4) Remove the six screws, and detach
the HDD.

When mounting the HDD unit, be sure that the flat cable is under the plastic sheet of the HDDupper case.

Obs:

1) Replace the HDD unit.
2) After assembling the machine, connect the power plug to the power outlet.
3) Connect a PC to which the Service Support Tool has been installed.
4) Turn on the PC, and turn on the main power switch while holding down both '2' and '8'
on the keypad.
5) Using the Service Support Tool, format the HDD unit and install the system software.

The hard drive is located on the left side near the front of the laptop. It is access by a single screw that holds the housing to the side of the case. The audio jacks are located by it. Remove the hold down screw and pull the hard drive caddy out.

on the right portion you'll see>> Hard Disk Drives, etc.;
then >>Devices with Removable Storage- the location where most probably you'll find your >>hdd vcam- w/some ID- brand?
Double click on it, locate your video/picture files and copy/paste to >> my Documents/my videos (my pictures?) located above Hard Disk Drives.

Import the desired video files to video editing software

Detach the machine from the power supply.
Turn the Acer Aspire 1360 over. Remove the battery.
The hard disk caddy can be seen centrally located from the battery bay (it is shiny metal). There is a piece of clear plastic attached to the back end of the caddy.
This is usually pushed back on itself under the plastic casing.
There are two screws located in the casing around where the HDD is located.
One is deepset and one is much nearer the surface.
Remove the deepset screw and put aside for later.
Get hold of the clear plastic strip attached to the HDD caddy (you may need a small screw driver to 'fish' it out). Gently pull the HDD caddy into the battery bay. It should come out quite easily, but you do need to apply consistent and mild force.

Once you have the caddy out, you will notice that there are two screws holding the HDD in it. Remove them carefully.
Remove the HDD from the caddy.

Putting back together is the reverse of the above.

I already locate and remove HDD of Acer and Toshiba laptops. And in my observation, almost all laptops have their HDD located at the bottom.
To be sure of this, turn and look at the bottom of your laptop, then if you can notice a somewhat sliced plate, with around
2 1/2 inch by 3 1/2 inch size, attached with visible screws, then try to open it. And as you did, you will find the HDD there. (that is if you already seen a HDD in a market without case. Cause familiarity can confirm it to you. And sometimes it is enclosed by metal plates.
