Sound card I had to reinstall windows xp home and have everything working except the sound card. When I install the drivers for the sound card it automaticlly starts making this terrible sound. I have to uninstall the drivers and it goes back to normal. it also locks up the computer and will not let you use the mouse. Thanks VC

reinstall the drivers for your sound card, you don't have to have the install cd just go to support.dell.com and choose your model pc, and dl the audio driver

My sound device is not functioning properly, so i reinstalled my XP and searched for drivers found everything except sound cards . . help me with sound drivers & instructions for how to install a sound...

Did you try the HP WEB site?
You need to download the drivers from the Compaq/HP WEB support/download page. Make sure you select your model laptop and the XP Windows version of the drivers you require.

Use this link to download the drivers

Sound card

That was a dodgy job,
the licence for windows XP installed by this guy is not genuine and can get you in troubles with Windows updates.
If you have a valid Windows XP licence (check the sticker at the base of your laptop), you should reinstall XP home using the licence number on the sticker.
If you do not have a licence, well I cannot talk here...

Regarding the sound, that is not a big problem, you just need to download and reinstall the drivers for your laptop.

Post a new question on Fixya, giving details on your laptop make and model, you will get the link to download for drivers.

I will be offline for the following few hours.

Don't forget to rate the solution appropriately.

Thanks
