Hi PROBLEM FIXED!!!
I had the same problem but fixed it! its simple, go to network and dial up connections in control panel and change your internet adapter card to obtain ip address via dhcp. to do this just double click on it or right click and change the properties. if you are not sure which one is your wifi adapter just do it to all of them till it works. also make sure u have set up yr encryption properly.
I had the same issue, HOWEVER I finally got it to work,
step 1- make sure you have your wifi set up and ready to go...
step 2- go to "control panel"-then click "network connections"-then click the network you are trying to connect from
step 3- you will see IP ADDRESS-make sure its on "obtain an IP address via DHCP
step4- Click tab "Name servers"
step 5- Manualy type in your "Primary DNS:"
Tips when I manualy typed in my Ip address and manualy typed in the primary DNS, it would work, it had issues. So make sure you have it automatically obtain the IP address. Also in the tab "name servers" you wont have to enter the secondary DNS, Primary WINS, or secondary WINS, just the "Primary DNS"
step 6- Once you have done all those steps, stay in the "control Panel"...click "Internet Options" under "General" make sure there is a valid start page, I just put www.google.com.
step 7- Finally... stay where your at...and click the tab "connection" make sure the box "Use LAN(no autodial) is the ONLY box selected.
These steps worked for my "cannot find server/DNS error problems.
I thought buying these Sylvania Netbooks was a mistake after I couldnt get the internet to work, but after researching and trial and errors this solved my problem. I bought 3 for my kids and all 3 did the same thing, and this fixed all of them!!! Goodluck. Please let me know if it helped!!
Usually this is down to the DNS service stopping or malfunctioning. hit Start and then Run and type services.msc then hit enter.
scroll down to DNS client and ensure it is set to auto and started then right click on the wireless icon on the taskbar and select repair.
If still nothing then plug in your routers ethernet cable and see if lets you go on. If it does then the problem is your routers wireless setting.
Same issue that I'm having. These are running the Windows CE embedded 6- operating system.
That services.msc is not available in this system.
Any ideas for this OS?
i am having same issue can anyone help
i might just take it back and get money back if not thanks
ditto. Help! just couldn't resist the bargain but I have FIOS, was told by them that their IP address is generally obtained automatically by these devices. they said to call or contact tech support listed on the unit. waiting to hear from them.
Same issue waiting to hear from them 4 days and counting. about to take it back to the store, can not find server
I have the same issue - showing connected to wifi but task bar on internet show intranet instead and getting page error on cannot display page or dns error.

Was anybody able to resolve the issue? I did the update, have input the pswd information multiple times, changed settings to obtain ip address, and tried to contact Customer Support, nothing works!
having the same issues, working on this for 4 hours, installed the WIFI update from the mfg. website without any changes. flushed DNS no changes, getting very frustrated with this little POS. Pretty disappointed that a toy for a 6 year old can cause such grief. tried all the suggestions from above posts without any changes to DNS error. will work with a network cable connected but when connected to wireless no luck. I have several other computers that are working fine. has to be something in this unit. Any Suggestions. you can keep the smart remarks to yourselves we all know this is a toy so we don't expect it to run Solidworks, would just like to be able to use as a netbook.
had the same problem connect to router and get the default gateway address then unplug call up the wireless and plug this number into primary server worked on all three of mine. while i,m here does anyone know of a flash player that will work with this os?
I purchased the netbook 2 weeks ago . click on start on your computer . under accessories click on command prompt . type IPCONFIG and enter . write down IP address . type IP address in your browser . if your router is not set up, you should be able to use manufacturers username which is admin and the password is password or 1234, enter. here you are able to find or set your basic settings and get the following: IP#, IP Sub Mask#, Gateway #, DNS

We should have never brought a computer who specializes in lightbulbs....woozers
There is also a Wifi update available at the digitalgadgets support page.
I am having the same issue as everyone. I emailed the customer service and have called for the last 4 days to no answer. We have tried the suggestion in locating services.msc and nothing happens.
SOURCE: My Sylvania 7" netbook from CVS uses Windows CE.
Google "digital gadgets.com". There find "Sylvania Products". Then click on "7 inch netbook support" and follow directions.
For item # 4, you find your "hot spot" name and click "connect". For item # 5, you may have to call your Internet Service Provider (Charter, AT&T or whoever you pay for your internet in order to get your "network keys" fill that in and then click "OK".
Next be sure you go to "Start", "Settings", "Control Panel", "Internet Options", "General" and complete "user agent (requires browser restart" by selecting:
"Default (same as windows XP)" or
"Same As Pocket PC" or
"Windows CE".
I selected "default" and was off and running.
Although this isn't a "lap-top" it is a really neat little machine and does a lot of stuff almost like one. It should be great for travel! It is a little slow and has small memory, but it's inexpensive and usb/sd ports are there. A regular universal mouse helps-just plug it into a USB port. I'm doing internet, movies, word processing, etc like everything and I think a lot of people are way under-rating this fun machine! -DKA-

Try the detail below: It is looking for a password (WiFi Network Key) You have to double click on the little computer icon down in the right tool bar area, the one with the two side radiating arcs, and possibly has a small red X under it. The red X indicates that it is NOT connected. When you double click on that icon a window called RT28701 opens up, then you click on Wireless Information tab, then you cursor down to the name of your WiFi and high light it and click the connect box. Then another window opens up called Network Properties. Uncheck "The key is provided automatically" box. This will allow you to type in your "Network Key", the password that protects your network from outsiders. This "KEY" was set up when you installed the router on your server computer. If this does not work at first, turn the machine over on it's back and using a toothpick, insert it into the little hole about an inch diagonally from the right corner of the data plate, this will re-load a new copy of everything including the WiFi RT28701 driver. sometimes this driver gets confused. See my TIP at: http://www.fixya.com/support/r7350901-fix_synet07526_wifi_flashing Additional Information When I try to sign on with the red X showing, I get "The page cannot be displayed If I then double click on the icon down in the right corner I elucidated above, RT28701 opens up to "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) with all zeros in the IP address field, and Subnet Mask, with no entries in the default gateway. That is a clue to me that the auto sign on has not found a viable network or needs something else. If I then click on Wireless Information tab, The list of available networks appear in the box. The machine keeps trying to associate my previous entered name site with my prefered site and tells me the signal is good, but it cannot link up. This is a signal to me that it has lost my Network Key or that the software has failed or both. I then click on advance and delete my prefered network and hit OK, this will force the software to ask me for my network again, and notice that the prefered is missing. I click on the name of my network again and then hit connect., then the Wireless Network properties window opens up and I can insert my Network Key again after I uncheck the "The key is provided automatically" box. I enter the key and hit the OK button. I still do not get a connection, so I reboot the machine, and wait for about 30 seconds and the machine synchs up because the little RED X under the icon has disappeared. Now the machine will hook to the internet as long as I want to, but sometimes when I turn the machine on it will not synch, so I go through the above sequence again. The secret is once you have entered your key and ask for the machine to synch up you have to reboot. Why? I do not exactly know, but I suspect that the WiFi driver looses it

You may not actually have access to the wireless network, check for passwords on your router.
