Water has been collecting on the bottom tray of my frig (under the vegetable & fruit crispers). I have a top freezer Frigidaire. The back coils are clean and the door seals seem ok. What can I do?

We have water laying on the bottom shelf every day

Under the evaporator coils is a drain. It catches the defrost water and directs it to a pan above the compressor where it evaporates. The drain clogs and water cascades down the back wall ending up under the crispers. Get a shop vac and open the drain.

I have a model ET8CHKXKQ0 1 Whirlpool refrigerator and it keeps collecting water in the meat tray, the vegetable tray and under both vegetable trays. I have vaccumed under the frig., in the back and...

The drain in the freezer is clogging. When the defrost switches on, the backed-up ice thaws and starts dripping down into the fridge area.

Easiest is probably to turn off the fridge, let it thaw, then check the freezer drain to see if you can unclog it.

Otherwise, you have to pull out the bottom and back parts in the freezer (which will probably have some sort of ice frozen to them). Once you see the drain pan, get a turkey baster and flat head screw driver. You'll have to make a hole in the ice above the drain and squirt hot water until you hear it start draining. The drain hole is off center to the right in the drain pan.

Good luck

I have water puddling up under my Vegetable bins

Our fridge had the same problem with water under the crispers. My husband removed the slide out bottom out of the freezer section and exposed the galvanized trough that drains the defrost water into the drainage tube that goes to the tray under the refrigerator. Hallelujah! the galvanized trough was rusted through and allowing water to drip into the refrigerator instead of the drain hose. I have not found the trough on any parts lists so he is patching it with putty.

Model TBX21KLK water pooling UNDER vegetable bins

Your evaporator coils frost up in normal use and every eight hours or so the entire unit shuts down and the defrost heater comes on to melt the frost. This cycle last about 20 minutes. The melted frost drips into a drain pan and through a drain tube to the drain tray under the freezer/refrigerator where it's evaporated by the condenser fan.

Your drain tube may be stopped up with ice at the upper end because it drains too slow because it's stopped up at the lower end in the evaporator pan under the unit at the floor. It can get dust and mold in it. Once you get the ice out at the top a little pressure with a turkey baster will usually clear it out. Flushing it out with hot water and clorox may help.
Make sure it drains quick enough to prevent refreezing. . The drain should be located below the evaporator coils on the lower back of the freezer.

Water collects in bottom of refrigerator under fruit/vegetable bins

When a fridge goes in to defrost it melts the ice on the coils in the interior of the freezer. Often times there is a drain that runs to a sliding tray under the fridge. If this is clogged you will get water building up under the bins.

Water under crispers in my fridge

If the freezer is on top then empty out the freezer and remove the bottom and back liner of the freezer compartment usually phillips screws. In the back you will see the freezer coils along with a defrost element. Below these two items u will see a drip tray that collects water from the coils on defrost cycle, in the center of the pan will be a drain hole that connects to a hose that leads to a pan under the refrigerator.Normally the water is collected there and evaporated. The hole in the tray in the freezer is clogged. Thaw it and clean it until you can pour water in it and it goes to the pan down below. please rate me

Water Is accumulating at the bottom of my fridge....below the vegetable/fruit crispers. The fridge however contiues to keep things cold.

The automatic defroster is supposed to drip down a tube and deposit water into a tray underneath the refrigerator. If that tube becomes clogged with either ice or mold, water is supposed to drip down the back of the refrigerator and go under the crispers, but there is a drain under there that takes it to the tray under the refrigerator. That drain might get clogged with mold or food.

So my suggestion is, try to clear out the drains under the crispers. More difficult, remove the floor of the freezing compartment and clear out the drain there. If it is severely clogged with ice under there, you have a defrosting problem.

In this hot, muggy weather you are likely to get lots of condensation. Good luck.
